My last LUT Hive Garden journal was back in August, that's three month ago. I was hoping to share more of my garden this year but I only managed to do six updates and now the gardening season has finished before I can say boo!!!😖
A few weeks ago I was harvesting the last of whatever I could find. A few more tomatoes and the last couple of courgettes. I have done pretty well out of these two veg this year. At least by my standards, given that I have just started gardening.

I also decided it was time to harvest my sweet potatoes. They've been growing for five to six months and some of the leaves have finally started to go yellow. I was looking forward to see what if anything had come out of it. Not a massive haul but I'm pleased with anything that grows in my garden.
The marigold were still going strong and continued to flower, as was my hotlips.
It had grown so big this season that it covered up the lavender next to it. I finally pushed back the branches to give the lavender some air. Next year I'm going to replant the lavender to where the marigold is and let it flourish like mad.
There's nothing growing in my raised beds now. We had a few nights frost last week and it killed my pepper plant that I had was going to repot and see if I could over winter. That's one less thing for me to do now.
It's been raining every day the past month, and as soon as there was two good dry but very cold days last week I immediately finished the last task for the season. Or strictly speaking start to prep for the new season.
My new mini greenhouse!! Although it's just a small one measuring 2ft x 6ft, I'm very excited with my new purchase. It's a proper one, as opposed to a plastic cover and some shelves that I bought last year.
I fixed it to the back of my garage wall, and added some bubble wrap to retain some heat. The bubble wrap looks a bit messy, I need to trim it to make it neater. The toughened horticultural glass panes keeps the greenhouse warmer. I stood inside and closed the door and could feel the difference in temperature compared to outside. Not that I plan to camp here overnight!!😄
However, I could definitely try to grow some winter plants, and start my seedlings a bit earlier next year. That would extend my growing season by a couple of months.
That's my gardening finished for 2025. LUT Garden Journal will be back again next year.
