New Batch of Beers

I found a bunch of new beers at the Liquor store the other day. It's always exciting to try something different - am I right? On this particular shop there were actualpy quite a few cans that I've never seen before. Its not something that happens often though, so naturally I took the opportunity to give as many of them a go as I reasonably could. So without further ado, for this #Beersaturday I'll be reviewing two new beers from my new selection. Let's see how they fared shall we?

Figo

Brewery: Henderson Brewing Co
Origin: Toronto ON Canada
Style: Italian Style Pilsner
Abv: 5.5%
IBU: Unknown
SRM: Unknown
Marketing: The can is a baby blue color with bold red accents and white complements. Old town design imagery and the company's brand logo displayed prominantly at its front and center. I find the design to be a little boring but I quite like the colors so overall its gets a thumbs up from me.
Color: The beer poured a nice yellow straw color with a foamy head on top that stuck around for a little while. Thats always welcome. The beer was clear and obviously filtered.
Nose: The nose was hoppy and fruity with strong pineapple and grapefruit notes. Nice smell smelling overall. Very fresh.
Taste: The taste was interesting. It was light on the sweet and tangy side, with a pronounced bitterness about it that hit at the back of the tongue and stuck around for a long time. I noticed some grainy cereal flavors coming through for me. It tasted fresh as well, another plus.
Texture: Strong carbonation, angry bubbles create a rough and ready mouthfeel.
Impression: I actually liked this beer quite a bit. It was unique in my opinion and a little unexpected. It was mostly bitter but thats fine with me and it was complex enough to be interesting. I would do this one again for sure, in the summer especially.

Fire Ban Amber Ale

Brewery: Tobermory Brewing Company
Origin: London ON Canada
Style: Amber Ale
Abv: 4.9%
IBU: Unknown
SRM: Unknown
Marketing: The can is primarily a maroon and burnt yellow color with a cream colored brand logo displayed at its center. It had a simple design but effective in my opinion.
Color: The beer poured a rich burnt orange color with a cream colored head. I noticed a slight orange hue to the edges of the foam.
Nose: The nose was malty with notes of bread and fruity hopps. Fresh smelling aromas.
Taste: in the taste department, the beer was semi sweet in the begining with a sharp punchy bitterness in the finish. I noticed candied fruit flavors at first and then maybe bitter orange peel in the finish. Fresh tasting as well.
Texture: It had a sharp bubbly carbonation and was medium to light bodied in the mouthfeel.
Impression: This was a decent beer to me but maybe a little on the sweet side. It was okay and I enjoyed drinking it but not something I would revisit again.

Well thats it for now. Until next time, thanks for reading. Cheers everyone!
