Hello friends. Today I want to talk about my visit to Sintra, Portugal. The last time I was here, I only visited Monserrate Park and Palace. This time I decided to make up for it because there have been many recent additions to the area. So, I skipped the classics, but my trip was still incredibly fascinating.

Hello friends. Once again we are in Spain and once again, we are near Madrid. In this post I will talk about my visit to another significant royal structure: El Escorial. El Escorial is a palace, a monastery, a seminary and college and a church all at once. Everything is combined in one place. With this structure Philip the second aimed to showcase Spain’s true position in the world during the 16th century. At that time Spain was indeed a powerful empire with grand ambitions, exerting vast influence through its colonies in the Americas and Latin America. Moreover, during Philip the second’s reign, the Philippines in Asia were named after him and became a Spanish colony.

Hello friends. During our trip to Tenerife, we visited one of the island’s most important tourist attractions: Loro Park. In my opinion this park is one of the places that makes this journey worthwhile. Loro Park is, at least from what I have seen so far, the most incredible zoo. Initially it was established solely for parrots, after all, "Loro" means "parrot" in Spanish. Opened in 1972 the park now features stunning landscapes, various animal species and a range of different shows.

Hello friends. We continue exploring Tenerife and today I want to talk about our visit to the highest point on the island Mount Teide, which is also the highest point in Spain. There are actually several volcanoes on the island and they have erupted at different times. The last eruption occurred in 1909.

Hello friends, our journey on Tenerife Island continues. In this post I wanted to share a brief walk we took in the island’s historic capital, San Cristóbal de La Laguna, better known simply as La Laguna. It’s called La Laguna because there was once a lake here that served as a freshwater source. I’m not sure where the lake disappeared to, but the city is still here, standing strong since 1494. The city was founded by Alonso Fernández de Lugo, who also ordered the construction of the island's first Catholic church, the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. That’s where we began our walk.

Hello friends, I'm here with a new travel adventure. I'm heading out to explore Tenerife and this trip has a nostalgic meaning for me because I first came here years ago with my mom and dad. And here I am again. I want to have a great time and tell you about this beautiful island. We're starting our journey from the island's capital, Santa Cruz de Tenerife. What's interesting is that not only is this the capital of the island. But it also alternates as the capital of the entire Canary islands. The capital status alternates from Santa Cruz de Tenerife to Las Palmas in Gran Canaria. This is quite an interesting situation. The city was founded in 1494 and it was the last island to be conquered by the Spanish. According to sources, the Berber originated Guanche people lived here. As for why they're considered African, geographically the Canary Islands are close to Africa, but they belong to Spain.
