i linger in the wistful feeling
of that sweet moment
when my heart was full
and my belly was calm
then a spurt of bitterness
slips in, unnoticed
like a nauseating slime
colouring the nice feeling
turning the waters dark
he appears before me
like an apparition
but bold and stern
tell me that one thing
you most desire in life
he mumbles in my ear
and all I could conceive was
take away the slime
i'll embrace the sweetness
his guffaws strike me
in the dark recess of my mind
lighting the lava deep within
you ask the impossible
he mumbles faintly
impossible is the realm of your kind!
i counter, molten lava dripping
from the window of my soul
ready to incinerate him
a chuckle follows at my folly
my frail construction on display
my kind is not omnipotent
what you seek is beyond
any being's reach, he says
for the slime and sweetness
must remain a part of you
you are sovereign in this realm
to embrace either or both.

This poem is based on the concept of nostalgia. Should I embrace the good times and forget the bad or take them both?
I'll gladly welcome your thoughts on these. What do you think?
