It feels like half of Europe is flooding at the moment. My friends in the mountains are receiving packs of snow while in town the tradition of the cows getting off of the mountains was hussled. Cant leave the cows up in a blizzard right? They would cold hoofs!
Let me start with telling y'all again as always that I really love my dog. The most loyal animal, who is the first to greet me in the mornings with an enthusiasm that can never be encountered in any kind of way. The animal makes me laugh a lot, is hardly any trouble and is always the most loyal creature around.
As you all know feom my blogs I like to eat and eat all kinds of things. I like experimenting with making stuff myself but I also like experimenting on what all is possible with food. Just a couple of years ago I discovered the charm of eating ceviche. Raw but cured by adding acidic juice to the dish that will take away the rawness but not the flavour. You all know salmon ceviche and tuna ceviche right? Well there are als less known ceviches which are surely still as good becaus they still feel raw. I had the pleasure of having swordfish ceviche a while back in a place where with my own eyes I saw the swordfishes swimming in the ocean and was already thinking of catching them. So fresh, so tender and so nice in flavour. Recently I ran into this shrimp ceviche which I needdd a second to think about it having it. Because you know..shimps and raw. But on the other hand if you are a food place and you have the courage to put shrimp ceviche on the menu. It means you have someone on the house who knows what they are doing and must be doing it very well. Because this stuff can make people feel really bad if not prepared proper. But in this case it was. With some local capes and just some lemon juice and grinded pepper, that is about it. And damn how delicious it was. The ocean is full of surprises of what is possible in flavours. It feels like there is still so much discover in terms of food.
While all of you are in Split chilling at Hivefest, meeting new people, learning more about the blockchain, and just having a tremendous amount of fun, I really can only envy how sweet it must be. Last month I was in Croatia and it had been a really long time since I had been there. I was captured again by the coastlines and the surroundings, and you just feel like a lot of history is just right there. While sailing the Ionean seas there you pass a lot of different islands where it really is a difference how inhabited they are. I saw tons of green and trees and sometimes it took a lot of miles to see some lights in the distance again. After we had returned in the homebound harbour it was totally time for a beer on the beach because we had reached the harbour safe and in 1 piece with no damage at all. That calls for a bit of celebration and what better place to do that than in a beachclub facing the sea with a little island in the back. I even saw some people doing a night time SUP (stand up paddleboard) session and they all had nice night lights which made them recognizable to which side they were heading for the sea traffic. I found that a decent feature. Night time supping when the sea is calm? That sounds like something to try out here and there. As said...I was surprised by Croatia and the chillness and also realized there is so much more coastline to visit and see. You could sail there for weeks all the way to Albania and still have missed to many islands. This needs some to be continueds if you ask me and this will not be the last time for me heading there. Maybe not in high season though....
The decision is finally made...I won't be attending Hivefest even though all signals seemed to have go. And reading the Telegram group with all of those people arriving is bringing me a crapload of FOMO with it.A big fat booooh!!!
Just look at the picture here underneith of the little palapa in the sun with the sea in the background. I bet your first thought on this is 'ahhh, this has to be on some tropical island again, it looks so chillNothing about that is all true, don't always think too far away from home. This is the Dutch coastline with the beach of Scheveningen. You know Scheveningen....the city that no foreigner can pronounce .
