Jeepney Story: A Drizzly Night Reflection

On a cold rainy day
Some thoughts were carried away
Life’s experiences brought up to mind
Reminiscing those days of how strong I am

Do not rush and do not hush
For in time will fall into place
Opportunities will come
As struggles we overcome

Waiting might test your patience
But in waiting it was worth living
Pray while you wait
Coz may God just test your faith

The short poem above tells how I went through that day and was able to learn and reflect. September 25, 2025 when a typhoon entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility and our place, guess what? it’s on Signal No. 1. Classes were suspended but working in the private sector still continues. Time was moving fast and the clock hit at 7 in the evening which means our time's up at work and time to go home. Logging out, walking out at the office and waiting for some jeepney to pass by. Tick tock tick tock says the clock but it seems due to heavy rain, I might be late in going home. And then, one jeepney passed, I waved my hand giving signal to the driver that I would ride but sad to say it didn't stop, so I waited again. Another time has passed and I loss some patience already so I decided to walk forward where other jeepney will pass by. But as I continue walking, one, two, three, four and five jeepney passed me by without stopping because it was not intended for jeepney stop and I asked myself why did I walk away? And so, I no longer hold my breath, I continue walking and boom, I arrived at the jeepney stop.

As I waited for a couple of minutes, a jeepney has arrived, but I didn't ride. Why? It’s because, why would I let myself stand inside for minutes just to arrive at home where I struggle to walked distance and just to stand? And yes, I didn't hop on, instead I waited again. Another one came and I hop on, why? it’s because it was convenient for me and because I was able to sit properly. You know why I shared it to you, it’s because I want to share the lesson that I get while waiting.

First jeepney: I learned that there’s no need to run just to chase that thing who walked away from you even if you gave him signal that you want to. If it is not meant for you, it will never be yours.

Second to fifth jeepney: Even if you have more opportunities to ride and wave your hand to the driver so that it will stop but you are not on the right place, it will never stop for you. Some opportunities will open one's you are on the right place and on the right time. Just don't loss your patience while waiting as God prepare something greater than you've expected.

Sixth Jeepney: If something came up, and its full, do not push yourself into something that is already occupied. You sacrifice walking away on the first waiting area, experience the pain and soaked yourself unto the rain, and yet you will lower your standard, it’s a big no. Make sure that if you moved on, set your standards high and know your worth.

Last Jeepney: After all the pain and struggles that you faced in a couple of hours, every waiting is worth living. If it’s your time of enjoyment, well, it’s all really yours.

The rain might represent the problems, difficulties, and struggles in life, but you, yourself is the solution on how far you can go to take risk amidst the difficulty to make a difference so that comfort will all be yours. Every situation that you are in, always remember that God has a purpose. A purpose in which it will strengthen your relationship to Him, and a purpose that will serve your life at its best.
