When you have realized who you really are, then all you can feel is the bliss of brahmananda, or the realization that you are not separate from the cause of all causes, and therefore you lack nothing. Such a state is rare, yet it was the goal of advanced yogis and mystic meditators since time immemorial. Those who attained even a glimpse of the goal, of linking up with the transcendent force, the holy source, and his feminine shakti energy, would lose all material desires because they would feel fulfilled. Thus, they had no more need to pursue the objects of the senses any more.
There is no one-size-fits-all attitude in life. Medical doctors in the allopathic western tradition like to prescribe the same pills for everyone with the same symptoms. Generally that might work, but specifically it may be detrimental.

If the hand tried to eat the food, we would think it ridiculous. The hand has to give the food to the mouth, which needs to send it to the stomach. In this way the whole body enjoys the food. The hand cannot enjoy it separately, and it knows how to serve it to the mouth for the pleasure of all, including itself.
We're all driven by lust and greed. That's the nature of the human existence. Actually all life seeks to preserve itself by accumulating resources and by reproducing itself. A more subtle allure is that of fame, which is called subtle sex life. It ensures the fulfillment of both of our instincts, namely our lust and greed.
