I'm going to take you guys on a little history lesson on this blockchain....

The year is 2018.

People are REALLY getting excited about Steem (what Hive separated from). Development is everywhere you turn. Communities are being formed. And friendships are beginning. This was the true human experience on a blockchain. Real Web 3.0 before it was even a catch phrase.

There was an app I learned about while attending the Steem Creators conference in Toronto back in September of 2018.

It was called Partiko.

And my goodness, it was perfect. A mobile app, that could be downloaded on both iOS and Android stores. It was clean, easy to use and just worked. I got to hang out with the creator on the app at Steemfest 3 in Poland that same year and he seemed extremely excited for what he was building.

And then...He disappeared. Partiko, along with him, vanished.

Fast forward to today, and while this blockchain has always had things like Ecency, I've always felt that there was a big hole missing for a super clean, no fluff mobile app that focused on short form content. Ahhhh that's opening up a can of worms huh? Back in 2018, short form content was frowned upon and recently the mindset has seemed to shift thanks to projects like InLEO, Waves and Snaps...Because anyone with half a brain, knows that the way social media explodes is via...Short form content. Bite sized pieces of content is what attracts users, creates retention, and allows for adoption to take place...

The mobile app is key!

Having it on Android and iOS stores is critical. Because that's where people that actually use this social media stuff, go to find apps. They don't use mobile browser versions of apps, at least not the masses that this blockchain has always wanted to attract.

Speaking of Steemfest 3, I met another guy there who I interacted with a lot on chain. His name was @meno And if you have ever gotten a chance to touch base with him, you know he's the salt of the earth kind of guy. He released something a few months ago that I pretty much forgot about because I had blinders on and wasn't keeping up to date with Hive related news. But I decided to check out his project this week..

This is Snapie.

It's a mobile app front end that piggy backs off the snaps container feed from @peakd (At least that's how I think it's set up, I'm not that smart to be sure lol)

I download this directly from the iOS App store this week and have been absolutely taken by the entire experience. Here's why....

As soon as you open the app on your phone, you will notice how this is a no fluff kind of experience. If you are familiar with Hive, the log in process is super easy and then you get to the feed.

Clean!

That's how I would describe it as soon as I logged in. Nothing complicated, no crazy terms to learn...Just use the app, press post and enjoy the experience.

(Yeah I really did make a Snap from this screen shot lol)

I cannot begin to describe how important this is for onboarding new users. Anyone that is being introduced to Hive can set up an account with ease on the Snapie front page, log in and start creating content in seconds. Because there is really nothing to overwhelm them....Until they learn about other account keys other than the posting one lol

The app just had a big update that will include:

Audio snaps!

It got released on Android today and I heard from @meno that it will be on iOS tomorrow hopefully. Personally I can't wait to test that out and annoy you fine folks with my charming voice ;)

Seriously folks, I've been pounding my chest for years about the importance of actual mobile apps for this blockchain and yes, I know we have some fantastic ones already but Snapie adds SO much. It's super clean, it's easy to use, looks and feels great but here's the best part....It actually works!

Nothing drives away customers more than an app that crashes and never does what it promises to do, and so far, Snapie delivers. I'm only a few days into using this app but if this is what is to come, I'm looking forward to adopting this fully onchain.

Great stuff guys, Snapie for the win!

Do yourself a favor, download Snapie today on Android or iOS) and prepare to be amazed at what true web 3 can be!
