A Scenic Glacier Sentinel Rock Walk | Franz Josef 🇳🇿

It was a drive in September last year from Christchurch to Fox Glacier in the Westcoast of the South Island. Tourists flocks to Mt Cook, Lake Tekapo, Milford Sound, Queenstown...which are no doubt very beautiful spots but the Westcoast is another stunning place with a lot breathtaking spots.

So with a little over five hours of driving, I stopped at Franz Josef, the last town before Fox Glacier for a walk. I had checked online for short walks before embark on my long drive.

Sentinel walk happened to be a stunning walk, though there is a steep section to it that got me breathing heavily, a sign of lacking fitness 😀.

From the Sentinel Rock lookout, you can see the glacier but over the years, the glacier has retreated due to global warming, it is amazing to see from the info provided how much glacier was there in 1865 compared to now.

Interesting how our world works. 🌎
