I have a good friend, with whom I have been collaborating a lot for years due to work and study issues. She is in her last year of Visual Arts at the Instituto Superior de Artes (ISA). This time, one of the places we visited for her thesis was a neighborhood in Guanabacoa.

As a person who at one stage in his life thought about studying history as a university career, I love to try to bring to portrait photography a bit of the past, mixed with touches of the present. Havana lends itself very well to this type of photos, because is a caleidosc of epochs.

When we were little, most of us probably had to answer that obligatory question: "What do you want to be when you grow up? I went through wanting to be an astronomer (not an astronaut!), a teacher, a singer (at that time I still didn't know that I could hardly use my voice in the shower).

Every working day, I have to commute to places somewhat distant from my home. Catching a taxi is not an easy task when I have to go to Vedado. Going to Marianao is much easier. In those moments, I barely have the mind to think about taking a picture, because the punctuality depends on being aware of the "almendron" ( an American old car) that wants to stop you and half struggle to be the lucky person who manages to get into the car.
