Greetings, I hope you are well. I would like to share a post about the TV series "Friends", which I have been watching for a while. Friends started airing in 1994 before I was born, and it has already ended, but I just started watching it. I am at the end of the 5th season and I would like to share my first impressions with the events up to the current episode. I used Wikipedia and Fandom to get the photos and general information. Overview of the Series
Friends is a 10-season sitcom that ran from 1994 to 2004. This series about the adventures that happen to a group of friends living in Manhattan is an American production. Based on 6 main characters, this series will cheer you up with its short episode durations. It consists of episodes of 20 minutes each. Most of the 10 seasons are 24 episodes, so if you are thinking of starting, you have a lot of episodes to watch. I can say that the seasons go fast for me. At some moments, I guess it would not be a lie if I say that I watched 10 episodes in a day that I fast forwarded to see what will happen next😁
It gripped me from the first episode and I can't wait to finish it. In fact, one of the reasons why I watched it was that the documentary filmed in the past years was very popular, the characters were still alive, and seeing their photos together made me feel how sincere this work was. Also, as someone who has already watched and finished the How I met your mother series, I thought I might like this production. And so it was😊Friends shows us the 90s in a very naive way.
The events that surprised me in this series set in 1994;
- Cell phones are not used as often as they are now. They usually use home phones and answering machines.
- They have computers, but private computers are very rare and they don't seem to do much for me 😁
- The clothes are great, I love how they dress differently from each other and they dress according to their age. Nowadays, a young girl and an older person dress very similarly, if I say jeans and a t-shirt, you will have an image of both age groups in your mind, but in those times, I think everyone dressed more age-appropriate.
- Friendships were more side by side, even though now we talk to many of our friends remotely, on the phone, or on video, we are no longer friends with our peers in the building next door. In this series, we see friends who are like brothers and sisters with their next-door neighbors. This feeling is worth missing.

Monica is a cook and the sister of another character, Ross. It is often shown that she is not the favorite child of the family, which adds more humor to the series. She was quite overweight before college, but it is shown in a later episode that she lost weight after her brother's friend Chandler found her overweight during their first visit.
Monica is very competitive and obsessed with being the best. She has a cleaning disease. She is a character who thinks that she is of marriageable age and wants to have children.
Ross Geller

Ross is Monica's brother and favorite son of the family. Ross is a scientist and a paleontologist. He has a different humor and way of thinking from the other characters. Sometimes he acts quite naive-childish.
In the first episode, we learn that he is going to leave his wife. His wife Carol is a lesbian and pregnant with Ross' son. After the divorce, we continue to see her from time to time. His son Ben also appears in many episodes.
His feelings for Rachel, with whom he has been in love since high school, continue for a long time. He and Rachel were together for a while but they broke up because he cheated on her. Ross later married Emily, but this marriage ends because Ross says the name "Rachel" during his vows.

Joey is an actor. But he is not very good at his job, but over time he gets good roles and continues his career. Joey lives with Chandler. He loves to eat, he is very naive. He is originally Italian and has family in America. Joey has relationships with many women who have no place in his life.

Chandler works for a company but, like Barney in "How I met your mother", his work is unknown for his friends. Chandler is Monica's next-door neighbor.
Due to the divorce of his parents at a young age, he cannot form healthy close relationships and we know that he starts to make bad jokes due to the trauma of those days. But in the last episode of season 4, when Ross and Emily go to London for his wedding, he starts a relationship with Monica. Chandler, who usually has a very bad relationship with women, starts to have a healthy relationship with Monica and tries to solve his attachment problem.
Phoebe Buffay-Hannigan

Phoebe is one of the most enigmatic characters in the series. Although we know a lot about her, it is possible to discover new things every episode. In a nutshell, she is a musician and she plays guitar and composes new songs in the cafe where they hang out all the time.
Her relationship with her family is quite complicated. When his father leaves them, she stayed with her stepfather and mother. When her mother committed suicide, she started living on the streets. She is always looking for her father, so she reaches her brother. She learns that her mother is not her real mother and meets her real mother. She meets her father at her grandmother's funeral.
She becomes a surrogate mother to help her half-brother have a child with his wife. Phoebe, who is also a masseuse, sees and talks to ghosts. She is a very colorful and different character.

Rachel, a young woman who grew up as the princess of her family, realizes on her wedding day that she doesn't want to get married and starts living in her own way. During this time she lives with Monica. She starts working as a waitress in the café where they hang out all the time and then goes into the fashion industry.
When she learns about Ross's feelings for her, she becomes interested in him. Although they later break up, they remain friends.
Quick recap of the first five seasons
To summarize the main events, it all starts when Rachel becomes a school friend of Monica, one of the neighbors across the street who are friends with each other, and moves in with Monica after eloping from her wedding. Ross tries to open his feelings to Rachel, but it never happens. Rachel starts working in order to stand strong against life. Joey tries to find a good job. Ross' pregnant ex-wife gives birth to their son. The first season ends with Chandler blurting out Ross' feelings to Rachel while Ross is abroad.
In the second season, Rachel watches Ross' happy relationship with jealousy, then realizing the situation, Ross reunites with Rachel in a very romantic way. Meanwhile, Rachel quits her job as a waitress and starts working in the fashion industry. Joey starts working as Dr. Ramoray in a very good TV series. Monica has an affair with an old friend of her father's, but it ends when she wants a baby.
Obsessed with a friend of Rachel's from the fashion industry, Ross crosses the line and breaks up with Rachel, and cheats on her. Chandler, who has been on and off with Janice, breaks up with her for good this time. Phoebe finds her birth mother and stepbrother. Joey and Chandler also start keeping a duck and a chicken in their house.😁 😁

In the middle of season 4, Phoebe's stepbrother, Frank, asks her to be a surrogate mother for his children, and in the following episodes, we witness Phoebe's pregnancy journey. While one baby was planned, Phoebe gives birth to triplets. The scene right after the birth made me very emotional. Ross meets Emily, the niece of Rachel's boss, and they plan to marry. A wedding is organized in London, Ross says Rachel instead of Emily in the marriage vows and this creates a crisis. In London, Monica and Chandler's relationship begins.
The next season and the one I'm watching now is the funniest season😁Monica and Chandler's relationship is revealed one by one. Ross breaks up with Emily and moves across the street from Monica. Monica and Chandler's relationship competes with Phoebe and Gary, the owner of the police badge Phoebe found.
My criticisms;
Seasons 4 and 5 started to feel like regular, which bothered me a bit, but the fact that season 5 was so funny made me forget a bit.
It's also a bit sad that Rachel and Ross can't seem to break up and get back together, but I feel like they will in the next seasons.
It's surprising that the duck and the chicken are in so many seasons but they are extra funny.
This is not a criticism, but it's a point I want to make, but the fact that there were scenes that made my eyes tear up along with the comedy and joy made me love this show even more. Because seeing tight friendships in this youth series where jokes fly in the air increased my longing for such friendships.

Diziye genel bakış
Friends, 1994'ten 2004'e kadar süren, 10 sezonluk bir sitcom dizisidir. Manhattan'da yaşayan bir grup arkadaşın başına gelen maceraları konu edinen bu dizi Amerikan yapımıdır. 6 ana karakter üzerine kurulu bu dizi kısa bölüm süreleriyle sizi oldukça neşelendirecektir. 20'şer dakikalık bölümlerden oluşmaktadır. 10 sezonun çoğu 24 bölümlüktür eğer başlamayı düşünüyorsanız izlenecek epey bölümünüz var demektir. Benim için sezonlar hızlı geçiyor diyebilirim. Bazı anlarda şimdi devamında ne olacak diye hızlı hızlı ilerlediğim bir günde 10 bölüm izlediğim oldu desem yalan olmaz sanırım😁
İlk bölümden itibaren beni sardı ve bitirmek için can atıyorum. Aslında izleme sebeplerimden biri geçen senelerde çekilen belgeselin çok gündem olması, karakterlerin halen hayatta olup, beraber fotoğraflarını görmem bu işin ne kadar samimi olduğunu bana hissettirdi. Ayrıca How I met your mother dizisini çok önceden izleyip bitirmiş biri olarak bu yapımın da hoşuma gidebileceğini düşündüm. Öyle de oldu😊Friends 90'lı yılları çok naif bir şekilde bizlere gösteriyor.
1994'te geçen bu dizide beni şaşırtan olaylar;
- Cep telefonları şu anda bizde olduğu gibi ellerinden düşmüyor değil. Genellikle ev telefonları ve telesekreterleri kullanıyorlar.
- Bilgisayarlar var ama özel bilgisayarlar çok nadir ve pek de bir işe yarıyor gibi görünmedi bana 😁
- Kıyafetler harika, birbirlerinden farklı kopya olmayan giyinimlerine bayılıyorum ve yaşlarına göre giyiniyorlar. Şuan bir genç kız ile yaşı geçkin kimseler çok benzer giyiniyorlar, kot ve tişört desem iki yaş gurubuna da ait bir görüntü aklınızda oluşur ama o dönemler de herkes yaşına daha uygun giyiniyormuş bence.
- Dostluklar daha yan yanaymış, şu an bir çok arkadaşımızla uzaktan, telefonda ya da görüntülü görüşsekte, yan binamızdaki akranlarımızla artık arkadaş değiliz. Bu dizide kapı komşularıyla kardeş gibi olmuş arkadaşları görüyoruz. Bu hissiyat özlenmeye değer.

Eleştirilerim;
4.ve 5. sezonların artık tek düzeleşme hissi vermeye başlaması beni biraz rahatsız etmişti ama 5. sezonun çok komik olması biraz unutturdu.
Rachel ve Ross'un bir türlü birbirlerinden kopamayıp ama bir araya gelememeleri de biraz üzücü ama sonraki sezonlarda barışacaklarmış gibi hissediyorum.
Ördek ve tavuğun bu kadar çok sezonda oynaması şaşırtıcı ama ekstra komik oluyorlar.
Bu bir eleştiri değil ama değinmek istediğim bir nokta, komedi ve neşenin yanında gözlerimi duygulandıran sahnelerin olması bu diziyi daha çok sevmemi sağladı. Çünkü espirilerin havada uçuştuğu bu gençlik dizisinde sıkı dostluklar görmek bu tarz arkadaşlıklara olan özlemimi arttırdı.
Bugün çok konuştum şimdilik burada bitiriyorum. Diziyi bitirdikten sonra da belki bir yazı yayınlayabilirim, şimdilik hoşça kalın..
