@consciouscat and @new.things know how to Hive. At the risk of writing a burdensome, lengthy rambling post about human connection, I will try, defiantly, against my natural instinct to remain succinct.
When you're a stranger in a strange town, even with a limited, small set of users - Hive likely lurks around a corner somewhere.
They travel. They find people on hive. They arrange to meet. Conversation is commenced. I hope that conversation will not end.
The collective that is hive often forgets that most things you read on the internet are placed there through some sort of human motivation. Hive is not a financial platform. Hive is a place where the literal chains of causality link people together in friendship and trust.
I spoke to them about that relationship with @mattclarke, initially formed through employment, and strengthened through this place.
Hive allows me to meet and interact with countless individuals that are gifted with the unique ability to see deeper than the avatar, or the text it writes and to know that no matter the price of a token, the value should be measured in the social interactions between people.
The way our own minds expand when we let others in. The way our world view shifts as we see more perspectives.
There is a familiarity when you say hello to someone on hive, in corporeal reality.
There is a shared, mutual respect of the immutability of the past, a keen appreciation for acknowledging that our own development is locked away in the future, and a keen sense for the introspection and confidence gained by reading one's former self.
Then, there is the open nature of it all. Whether it be hands, palms arms or even doors - this too should be something that extends beyond the chain. Anyone can read what we write, forever.
As much as the behaviour of an individual and their acts defines them, we must remember that our own actions are immutable. Everything we've ever done impacts something or someone else. We cannot change the past, but we can influence the future.
Hive merely allows a way to document what is in the present that we wish to change. It shall endure and persist for far longer than our fleshy coils.
