Dry season realities in my compound garden

Hello homesteading wishing you all happy New year.

Today I took some pictures of what is growing right inside my compound aloe vera, lemongrass, and scent leaf. These are plants I truly value not just for food and health but also for the joy that comes from growing what I use daily.

However, the dry season we are currently in has really caught up with them. Despite consistent watering I can clearly see signs of stress. The leaves look dry some are drooping and the growth has slowed down. The heat has been intense and the soil dries up very quickly.

This experience made me pause and think that

How do people sustain leafy plants like these during the peak of the dry season?

What local or low cost methods do they use to keep their plants fresh and healthy?

Do they mulch provide shade or water at specific times of the day?

Please I am open to learning from your experiences please help your brother. Homesteading for me is about observing nature sharing knowledge and growing better even in challenging seasons.

Thanks for stopping by my blog, am eagerly waiting for your response.

All pictures are taken by me.
