I'm steadily getting my shit act together for the live set I'll be playing later on in the year. I know I've a few Hive folk interested in my musical meanderings, so I thought I'd pop these here for you to have a listen to.

Talk About The PassionA few months ago I was sat in Spokes coffee shop in Gainsborough chatting to Nicola, the Gainsborough Town Manager, about the Lincolnshire dialect.It’s a particular passion of hers, and a chance meeting between my Mum and Nicola had led to Mum saying I’d been doing some work with recordings of Lincs dialect poetry in my music.

There's been a lot of turbulence recently around many of the tools indie musicians use to promote and sell their creations. Twitter was a huge vector for Spreading The Word, and that continues to go down the pan. Even when it works folk feel uncomfortable using it. Facebook has been moribund for ages. Spotify, though unpopular anyway, has deepened resentment with its 1000 stream rule and the sales of Bandcamp - the one platform that felt OK - have involved union-busting layoffs that has left a bad taste in many folk's mouth. Soundcloud has just announced layoffs. In fact a lot of big/not so big tech across the board are laying off folk - can you hear the sound of bubbles bursting? 😉

Given I was a bit rubbish last week, and completely missed doing another #ThreeTuneTuesday after folk were kind enough to rate my first post, I thought I'd better pull my finger out and crack on with another.I thought I'd find it easier to go with a theme, so this week I'm going to hark back to the days of the good old 7" single, and pick some tracks that appeared on the b-side of a single. Lamentably, I think this concept is fading as it doesn't really make sense any more - but back in the day, to flip side of a single was often a place bands would put interesting, even experimental, stuff that they may not want to take up space on an album. Because that was limited on a 12" slab of plastic - another fading concept maybe...
