He is one of those little presences that brings a smile to our faces on our most difficult days. Little Meme. He's not so little anymore; he's a grown cat, but he's been at home with us ever since he chose us to be his family.
Some days, he acts like a wild cat, staring at people and not liking them, hissing like a snake.
Most of the time, he does what he wants and only responds if he really wants to respond. Often, he doesn't respond even when we insistently call his name. He recognizes his name. When he's in a good mood, just saying his name makes him meow loudly and clearly, looking us in the eyes, as if seeking a response.
I've never had a kitten like this one, who looks me straight in the eye. He looks at me for a while and then goes back to what he was doing.
It's a real privilege to have him in our home. He knows he's the only owner of our house and our affection. He's my son's cat, and he's the one who keeps us alert when he goes out into the garden.
Sometimes he brings home what he catches in the garden, which I don't like, and I let him know. He always shows me that he cares very little about my opinion, and does it again.

This is a little story about our little Meme.
