Jodhpur has many places to attract a traveller’s interest, like the Mehrangarh Fort or Jaswant Thada, but it has to be Jodhpur ka Umaid Bhawan Palace that deserves a special mention, even i was on my business trip, i had a flight after 5 hours, i wish to roam around the jodhpur to see the historical places but after watching so many videos on YouTube, my heart dying to see the most special or Royality of jodhpur is Umaid Bhawan. The Umaid Bhawan Palace is one of those well-known palaces that was built in the year 1928 – 1943 and is also knows as youngest palace of India, as it is only palace before India got independence.

History of Umaid Bhawan

The palace was named after Maharaja Umaid Singh whose grandson, Gaj Singh, is the present owner. The Umaid Bhawan is constructed at the highest point of the Jodhpur and is perched on Chittar Hill. While many of the grand palaces in India that were built pre-independence have become abandoned and empty monuments or have crumbled away into obscurity, Gaj Singh decided to convert part of his home into a hotel and the other part into a museum to ensure that Jodhpur’s Umaid Bhawan neither loses its sheen nor its significance.

The palace complex is built in an area of 26 acres of land including 15 acres of gardens, that the foundation of the building was carried out by Umaid Singh but the construction work was completed only in 1943,it took 15 years to built it, even on that ancient time construction cost of the mahal around 1 crore. It was on November 18, 1929. Taj Hotel took half of the bhawan to make it most Luxury hotel with 300 royal rooms, umaid bhawan(hotel) is famous for Royal wedding destination. Super deluxe room is know as Maharani suite which is coost you around rs 5 lakhs/ $6000 for per night and Maharaja suite cost you around 4 lakhs / $5000 per night.

To tell you the truth, I visited the museum in a hurry, neither could I see everything properly nor could I read it. Couldn't take many photographs because my flight was after 2 hours. But in future I am going to make 4-5 days vacation in Jodhpur because I really want to see the entire building and explore the bhawan.

Did you guys like India's Youngest Palace?

Thankyou for your precious Time
