Greetings friends. As you know, I am a fan of cats. I find them very gentle, calm and friendly. However, that is not always the case and there are many cats that are grumpy and unfriendly.
Thinking about these cats, I had the idea of making a small keychain inspired by the grumpy domestic felines that we can find in life. As you can see in the image below, it is a small keychain that could serve as a decoration for a purse or to carry it with our keys.

Saludos amigos. Cómo saben, soy fan de los gatos. Los encuentro muy tiernos, tranquilos y amigables. Sin embargo, eso no siempre es así y son muchos los gatos que son malhumorados y poco amigables.
Pensando en estos gatos, tuve la idea de hacer un pequeño llavero inspirado en los malhumorados felinos domésticos que nos podemos encontrar en la vida. Cómo pueden ver en la imagen de abajo, es un llavero pequeño que bien podría servir como decoración para un bolso o para cargarlo con nuestras llaves.
Step by step
It is a piece with a cartoonish shape, with big and angry eyes and a rambunctious fur, as if it were a stray cat, that's how I imagined it and I molded it in flexible dough.
Speaking of materials, that's precisely what I used, flexible dough. Besides this material as a base, I used paints and a wire with a ring for the keychain. Also tools such as wooden sticks, tweezers and knitting needles.
With the flexible dough the first thing I made was a base circle for the complete shape of the cat's head.
Paso a paso
Es una pieza con forma caricaturesca, con ojos grandes y enojados y pelaje alborotado, vamos como si fuese un gato callejero, así lo imaginé y lo plasme en masa flexible.
Hablando de materiales, precisamente eso fue lo que utilicé, masa flexible. Además de este material como base, usé pinturas y un alambre con argolla para el llavero. También herramientas como palillos de madera, pinzas y agujas de tejer.
Con la masa flexible lo primero que hice fue un círculo base para la forma completa de la cabeza del gato.
Since he is a furry cat, I thought about making a lot of fur around his head, so I took several pieces of material and started gluing it around his head.
Each of the little pieces of fur that I glued, I made lines in the center and other parts, to give it some depth.
Como es un gato peludo, pensé en hacerle un montón de pelaje alrededor de la cabeza, por eso tomé varios trocitos de material y comencé a pegarlo alrededor de la cabeza.
A cada uno de los trocitos de pelaje que le coloqué, les hice líneas en el centro y en otras partes, para darle algo de profundidad.
After making the fur I cut two small pieces of flexible triangular shaped dough.
These shapes would be used to make the ears. I made them a little concave on one of the sides, to give them that shape that cats' ears have. With a little glue I joined them to the central piece, leaving in front of the ears those small pieces of fur that I placed previously.
To soften the joints so that no dividing lines were visible between each part, I used more water and the rounded tip of a knitting needle to soften these joints.
Después de hacer el pelaje corté dos trocitos de masa flexible con forma triangular.
Estas formas serían para hacer las orejas. Las hice un poco cóncavas en una de las caras, para darle esa forma que tienen las orejas de los gatos. Con un poco de pegamento las uní a la pieza central, dejando delante de las orejas esos pequeños trozos de pelaje que le coloqué anteriormente.
Para suavizar las uniones y que no se vieran líneas divisorias entre cada parte, usé más agua y la punta redondeada de una aguja de tejer para suavizar estás uniones.
For the cat's face I made two huge spheres that would be the eyes. I placed them in the center of the face, then I made what would be the eyelids, which I placed over the eyes to give it that angry cat look, come on, as if the cat was frowning.
Para el rostro del gato hice dos esferas enormes que serían los ojos. Los coloqué en el centro de la cara, luego les hice lo que serían los párpados, los cuales coloqué encima de los ojos para darle esa apariencia de gato enojado, vamos, como si el gato estuviese frunciendo el ceño.
I also placed the nose a little below the eyes, in the center of the whole face.
Finally I took one of my knitting needles and with the rounded tip I started to tap it all over the flat space of the head, this will give relief to the piece, simulating a little bit the movement of the fur.
También le coloqué la nariz un poco más abajo de los ojos, en el centro de todo el rostro.
Finalmente tomé una de mis agujas de tejer y con la punta redondeada comencé a darle golpecitos en todo el espacio plano de la cabeza, esto dará relieve a la pieza, simulando un poco el movimiento del pelaje.
After that I started painting the keychain.
I used brown paint as a base, which I made with a lot of yellow, a little black and a slightly smaller amount of red.
With this color I hit the piece with the brush, then I darkened it a little to give depth and relief. These colors were the ones I used for both the front and the back.
Después de esto comencé a pintar el llavero.
Usé como base pintura marrón, la cual hice con mucho amarillo, un poco de negro y una cantidad un poco más pequeña de rojo.
Con este color golpeé la pieza con el pincel, luego la oscurecí un poco para dar profundidad y relieve. Estos colores fueron los que utilicé tanto para la parte frontal como para la trasera.
For the eyes I used yellow, painting the links completely in this color, accompanied by a minimal vertical line for the pupil.
Para los ojos usé amarillo, pintando por completo los links de este color, acompañados de una mínima línea vertical para la pupila.
After the paint dried I used glue to protect the piece. This way it was finished, here are some pictures of the final result:
