Layoffs on the Horizon

I heard that my company will have layoffs soon, I heard there is a list for the founder to agree to or not. Our founder is in his old age, well past normal retirement age and he has been looking to sell the company for at least all of 2025 and probably longer. Our company is impacted by how real estate is doing and challenges associated with that.
I have heard that the list of people to be culled had some people who a team leader decided should go and then the CEO saved them and meant someone else will get fired instead.

I think I am safe as I apply myself better than some other people and I am a low ranked middle manager so I'm at the bottom of the top so I have knowledge but am not as expensive as more senior managers.
We have investment funds that the public invest in and soon we will also be reducing the income we pay from the funds, so the investors will be sad and the employees will be sad at the same time, as some friends will be fired and everyone else will wonder if they could be next at the next round of layoffs.

I want to get married this year and the bonus coming in February is a big driver towards having my finances back in order for the year ahead. with layoffs I expect the bonus will be worse than other years.

So this weekend has been bad and I am not looking forward to the next 1-2 weeks. I hope if there are layoffs that it happens tomorrow rather than in 1 week time as I want to know the bad news sooner and then wait and overthink about it. I have been talking to AI about common law severance and employment law in case I am on the list to be culled.
