Gardens Tilling, Time Lapses, Dartsmind, Rain, Pole Garden, Trailer, Kraken - Monday

It was a bit later in the morning when I finally got out to the garden yesterday. I rolled the tiller down to the pole garden then spent some time raking out the sticks and pine cones.
The tilling went pretty quickly and after each pass I made the chickens were right there picking through the freshly turned soil.

They weren't bashful at all about getting right next to the moving tiller to get at the morsels.
The time lapse shows the birds quite well. I had made it almost all the way through the pole garden when I ran out of gas and had to refill it just to finish the last couple passes.
Then I went down the hill to the lower garden and had to rake out all the debris from it first as well.
This is the hardest of all my garden spots to till as the tiller is at an angle as I go across the garden. I was a little surprised the birds didn't follow me down to the garden for the fresher pickings but they were to engrossed in the pole garden.

This is the last spot and now I will have to go back over the main garden once more after I spread the ash, which I should do today while the soil is still damp from the rains last night and yesterday.
I had been done with the tilling for a short while when the clouds came streaming over and they dumped some rain. I figured it was a good time to go get some lunch in the house.
I have found a killer darts app called Dartsmind that is a scoring app. I found our old tablet that we had gotten for the hot tub but it has a piss poor battery in it so it got set aside. I charged it up and loaded the app on it then went to pick up the boys from school.
We were home for about 15 minutes when the sky opened up again and dumped a healthy bit of hail then rains, then it got nice and sunny for a while.
I had the idea and made it happen quickly. I found some old draw rails in the tool shed and the tablet fits perfect in the slide. I cut them down and mounted the slides to pieces of wood which I then screwed to the wall. We can slide it in and out of the holder and it is in a perfect spot for easily keeping score and keeping it plugged in.
Once the rain stopped again I headed out to the pole garden to get the fencing up. I had to string out the irrigation lines first and haul the plastic inside the poles then get the t-post pounded in. I am able to surround the garden except for 6 feet with chain link. The birds were not too amused by the sudden impediment to their new area.
The turkey hens are laying a lot now and we are getting 4 or 5 a day. The hens have 3 spots they are laying in and I am finding random ones around the yard occasionally.
I got the trailer hooked up and barrels loaded for the grain run that I have already been to this morning.
The boys spent a good part of the afternoon/evening playing 301. You can see the proximity of the tablet to the throwing line so it is within easy reach. We will be able to have our throw stats easily this way and it helps to quickly keep score. I am happy to see them enjoying darts so much as it is super good for their hand eye coordination and also the constant counting is extra good for them given they are 6 and 9.
Again the skies opened up and a nice down pour came through.
The sunshine and rain is always so cool looking.
I was trying to get the water drops that were all backlit by the sun. It looked super cool but I wasn't able to get the camera to catch it right.
Got to soak after a much needed shower.
The Kraken managed to pull out the series tying win in overtime last night which has them at 2 and 2. Next game is Wednesday in Colorado then back to Seattle.
I was up stupid early this morning so was in town by 5am and was home well before 6am. I have my lessons to get through, a few barrels of grain to deal with, fence to put up on the lower garden, ash to spread in all the gardens, a little bit of tilling left, I still have no plan made for what I am planting this year so need to drag all the seeds out of the basement and have a good look through them to try and make some decisions, and hopefully make more tortillas.
