she stands
before the textured layered world
framed
pierneef
a distant figure
unknown
yet she climbs into the world
that reflects her mind
textured shadows
layered meaning
she finds herself lodged betwixt
yesteryear and today
brushstrokes decorating
the blank canvas
her mind a whirlpool
consuming her being
a church
on the hill
she points towards
nothing yet everything
simplistic brush strokes
profound meaning
an everyday setting
alienating with
the textured meaning
between clouds
and rocks
between everything
and nothing
between you and me
pierneef writes poetry
on the textured canvas
in which we
bask together
I lost you
for hours
hidden between
textured layers
hidden behind
the brushstrokes
I lost you
for hours
staring at a pierneef
so far removed
from today
buried in yesterday
but you remain
fixated by the simplistic lines
Postscriptum
Yet again, I am drawn to some of the photographs I took of
@urban.scout whilst she stood mesmerized behind her favorite South African artist, Pierneef. She has written so many poems about his artwork, and every time she visits me she just wants to see the Pierneefs. Even though she has seen them many times, she always runs toward them as if the first time. This poem is thus meant to somehow capture those moments and the texture of the paintings which is really awesome.
In any case, I really hope you liked the poems and writing! (And the photographs.)
The poem is just one amongst many others, a gift like a bouquet of flowers. I am not good at buying flowers, but I write poems like flowers to my significant other. Sometimes I think she would prefer real flowers! But who does not like flowers? When I visit her again, I need to buy her flowers and write more poetry.
For now, I hope you liked this one, sharing in the intimate moment. Stay safe, happy reading!
All of the photographs are my own, taken with my Nikon D300 and 50mm Nikkor lens. The poem and writing is also my own.
