Lightpainting, afterdark, urbex and model photography not necessarily in that order!

Lately I find that when out shooting images in one style or another, my quantity of photos taken are fewer than they used to be. The old saying goes quality over quantity seems to apply. I've decided to aim for a weekly post to Hive with a kind of "best of my week" images from the previous week.
Contrary to popular belief, I do sometimes shoot photographs in daylight. Historically, I have been drawn to shooting images at night with lightpainting and landscapes in the dark being my favourite thing to do. So when you're away for a short weekend break on the east coast of England it would be remiss of me not to take along a bag full of camera gear.
Here in the UK, we've had a few clear nights recently. Great for me and my current obsession with star trail photography and anything landscape related at night. Last night's clear skies over Cambridge gave me all the excuses I needed to disappear in to the night for a few hours!
The skies were forecast clear and the internet in my part of the world was buzzing with chat about possible Aurora Borealis activity. So it was a no brainer that I needed to take a road trip to somewhere suitably iconic as foreground interest for when the skies erupt with colour.
I've not posted much lately to Hive and indeed not shot much in the way of images for a while. For the last few weeks, I've looked out of my window and felt depressed daily by the lack of clear skies. My urge recently to shoot star trails and night landscape has been quite intense! The more the clouds rolled by, the more depressing it became!
Every now and then I have to travel to London to see clients. I'll be honest and say I try to avoid it like the plague. It's literally like visiting another country these days even though I only live around 150 miles away.
