What an amazing day it was yesterday.
Hello everyone, yesterday was my dad's 60th birthday and it was a surprise birthday we did for him. He did not even know something was up until we all got back home from the church yesterday, so how did we make it happen?
Just before his birthday, my mom and my siblings spoke about throwing a little party for him because he has been a great dad and husband. He doesn't ask much from us but he always expect the best we can give.
All preparation have been done, all the gift we got, was kept in my room because my dad hardly enter my room. The cake was kept in our neighbor home while the decorations and gift were kept in my room.
Early in the morning, after he was dressed for church he kept asking us to go with him but we all gave excuse that we are not ready so he left and that was when the plan started. The people who wanted to do the decoration came, the cooks and every other people who have a task to perform.
After we are done giving instructions, we left for church but some friends stayed behind to help us watch what was happening.
At church, Dad did his thanksgiving and we all danced before the pastors prayed for him and his family.
On our way back home, we already called the drummer and saxophonist to get them ready and make sure they are on standby to welcome the birthday man.
Immediately my dad got to the front of the house, the drummer and sax guy started playing for him. He was so surprised because he wasn't expecting it, little did he know that inside his house has been changed too.
At this point, people are already coming. My mom invited some of his old friends and people who he hardly see. You see, my dad works in the city and only comes home during the weekend, rest and goes back to his work place on monday morning so there is little time for him to socialize but seeing many of his friends around, it was amazing.
His brothers came also and the house was full of guests.
When he entered, he started seeing some of his friends, people he had worked with on different projects, and his brother. I could tell he was very happy. He was the main person of the day.
A lot of people brought different gift for him and I can understand why many people showed up for him. He is a man of the people and he has helped so many people too. The number of people planned for where his friends but people from the community came also, people from my mom association also came.
My mom got a big frame of his picture for him and many other things, he was the mastermind behind everything. My siblings and I supported her because why not, he is a great dad.
There were so many other gifts and pictures taken that I don't have them all. There were lots of foods too, jollof rice, semo, egusi, fried rice and so more.
It was a great day for the family and all the friends that came to celebrate with us.
My dad celebrated his 60th birthday and I wish him many more years to come.
