Estos días he estado reflexionando sobre un tema que representa un desafío para los padres de niños en etapa de adolescencia, pues siempre había escuchado a otros padres hablar de que en esta etapa el niño se pone rebelde, les cuesta seguir las reglas y desean hacer lo que ellos quieren sin oír consejos.

Como padres es nuestro deber guiarlos en este proceso y no les estoy hablando de encerrarlos en casa o no dejarlos continuar haciendo sus vidas. Me refiero a que nos mantengamos pendientes de su comportamiento y de esa manera estar allí para ellos cuando necesiten corregir alguna mala actitud o cuando requieran de un consejo nuestro.

As parents it is our duty to guide them in this process and I am not talking about locking them at home or not letting them go on with their lives. I am talking about keeping an eye on their behavior and thus being there for them when they need to correct a bad attitude or when they need advice from us.

Yo recién estoy atravesando por esa situación con mi hijo mayor y les confieso que he empezado a notar cierta rebeldía en su forma de actuar. Pero antes de que todo en casa se vuelva un caos he decidido hacer un llamado de atención y solicitarle a mi hijo que debe seguir respetando las reglas que hemos establecido con anterioridad pues de eso depende el orden y la armonía.

Afortunadamente mi hijo tomó el llamado de atención de buena manera y aceptó que ha estado actuando diferente, así que aproveché ese momento para conversar con mi hijo y hacerle saber que entiendo perfectamente que está pasando por un periodo de cambio y que a su edad es normal sentir esos cambios emocionales.

Pero qué debe hacer un esfuerzo por respetar las reglas de convivencia y actuar de acuerdo a lo que ya hemos establecido en casa. Mi niño siempre ha sido muy cariñoso, pero debo entender que esas hormonas se encuentran alborotadas y por ello trato de ser un poco más suave con él, pero sin bajar la guardia.
