a couple of days ago we visited Lindesnes lighthouse at the southernmost tip of mainland Norway. it's a great area to visit with dramatic seacoast scenery it was a nice sunny day but this post features some details inside the lighthouse.

everybody who gets the chance to be at the beach in time to see the sun setting in the Arabian Sea takes a photo or two. i have plenty, not all of them are gems but i still have them. the fact that i already have more than enough leads me to tend not to take new ones unless the scene is more magical than usual. but whenever i have my phone with me i am always on the lookout for photo opportunities. the smooth wet sand after a wave recedes is often a great place for reflections. they may not be mirror perfect but that can be a good thing. this shot is from Kudle Beach in Gokarna

our kitchen window faces north so for most of the year we don't get any direct sunlight through it. but as we approach the summer solstice the sun is far enough north that we get a couple of hours early morning after sunrise and late evening before sunset. we have many poppies in our garden and save the seeds for cooking. the seed pods and stem are quite decorative so we have a bunch in a glass vase with a wire holder mounted on the side of the window trim. when the rays of light hit the vase it casts a delightful shadow with plays of light through the glass vase

last autumni was onone of my frequentr walks along the enchanting coastline here in southern norway. the scenery is great whether it's stormy, still or in between. the reflections are best when the wind is still but that is not very often, especially in the autumn. but as it gets colder, there are occasional nice sunny days with little wind and this was one of them

once again my timer is set so here goes:i feel more at home here in my first castle. well it's not really a castle like my other one but it's more cozy and intimate here. lots of woodwork, of course there are quite a lot of silver ornaments but all my gold is in my other castle. it feels so shiny there, it's exciting and all and very prestigious but it's cold. such big rooms all glittering, i bring my guests there who i need to impress but the ones i really care about i invite here. like i said it's home. no amount of riches can replace the sense of belonging that i feel here.

it's getting warmer and more and more people are out taking a stroll on the pedestrian road along the harbor. our garden overlooks the harbor with the road right below our terrace. it's good fun to observe the people and their shadows. the folks on the road in the morning cast shadows either in front of them or behind them depending on which way they are going. in the afternoon all the shadows fall beside them towards the harbor. you may think that everybody's shadow is pretty much the same and it would get boring fast but that's just not true. these two shots are from last summer
