Am glad to begin this year with my vegetable garden, the experience in this dry Season is funny but it's worth it. Gardening is what l love and enjoy doing, it has become an integral part of me, so sorry that for some reasons, l was unable to share my experience in the last many months.

The gardening experience in this season is a difficult one, though challenging, like l said, it's worth it, it's a whole lot of amazing experience for me, it's worth the time and other resources invented.

Today as the year begins fast forward, l had to visit my vegetable garden, it's small but mighty, the garden has been active in the past years.

initially l planted it for domestic consumption, though l had a large space but due to demands within my neighborhood, l had to extend to be able to meet the demands of my immediate neighbors but as we speak, the pumpkin garden is on a commercial scale though not very large but good enough to feed the mini markets within our locality.
Manure Application:
The beds are large beds, we have about 5 large beds which do take about a bag and sometimes more of 50kg poultry dung for each of the vegetable bed as the case may be.
The manure application is normally twice in a month, because of my combination of both poultry and goats dungs. l start with the goat dungs because it takes more time to decay and then about three weeks letter, l apply the poultry dungs.

You can see the greenish nature of our vegetable leafs, this is a proof of our organic manure application, l will by next week give you more details.
IRRIGATION:
As we all know, the greatest challenge of vegetables cultivation in the dry season is irrigation. it is a little had for me because our closest source of water became faulty as such l had to labour more in an attempted to at least make water available once in the day.

l had to do an experiment to see actually which one works better, l started with watering in the morning but l discovered that at the peak of sun rise, my vegetable leafs will begin to fall asleep as a result of the high intensity of the sun, so l had to change the pattern from doing the irrigation in the morning to irrigation at night.
The irrigation at the eve of day is more better in my experience and has improved the wellness of the vegetables, The plant takes in enough water at night that is able to sustain the plant even at the peak of sun rise.

The challenge of getting water to the garden due to the distance has been the difficult part of it but l do believe that in a short while, we will be able to fixed the water challenge , so as to completely deal with the water challenge.
Thanks so much, for staying through, Do have a great gardening experience and a beautiful day ahead. All lmage are mine @emylight.
