@holos-lotus, today I'm back to talk to you about that book that marked and continues to mark a before and after in my life:
The Golden Age, by José Martí.
The Golden Age came into my hands at a very young age; I was only 6 years old and just beginning to read and write.
One of the great things about this book is that it seems to have been written by someone of our time; someone who knows us all. But I'm only saying that now that I've grown up; however, as a child, I saw the book differently.
And I think that's another of the great things about this beautiful book: its multiple layers of interpretation.
If you read it as a child, you see it as an adventure, a history book, a poetry book—a book that has it all.
Here, Martí tells you about interesting people and characters, heroes, heroines, and girls like you and me, who make the same mistakes and the same pranks we did when we were kids. It was impossible not to identify with the book.
Perhaps the main thing I saw in him was that he was entertaining in the fullest sense of the word. Just as you'd find stories like Meñique, where the dwarf makes giant beatings through his cunning, utilizing magical and imaginative elements; we also found extremely interesting chapters like The History of Man Told by His Houses, where Martí led us by the hand through history through the first dwellings used in much of the world. In this way, I learned what an igloo and a hut were. I learned how primitive humans lived, who the Eskimos, the brothers, the Gauls, the Aztecs, and the Quechuas were. Through Martí, I learned that the world was much bigger than my house.
Through the Golden Age, I learned while having fun.
During the Golden Age, I first read the maxim that A good, intelligent, and clean child will always be a beautiful child.
José Martí showed me how to be a better person. He illustrated the end of bad feelings. The Golden Age became a kind of guide for life from my earliest years.
It also taught me that I must learn something new every day.
With this book, I not only learned new things and new worlds, but it also whetted my appetite for knowledge. I always wanted to know more. I wanted to learn about everything and everyone. Today, I return to it and realize how great and ahead of its time this book was.
It's not a book I've read once, not twice, not ten times; I return to it every year. I return to The Golden Age and I return to Martí in every aspect of my life.
This was one of the first books I gave my children. This is the only title of which I have perhaps a dozen copies in different editions, and they are never enough.
The Golden Age was the main gateway to researching and reading Martí's work. Martí's thought has governed my being and actions since I was a child.
Even now, in my doctorate, every chapter of my social sciences exam is illustrated with a thought by Martí.
So, without a doubt, this was the book that marked and continues to mark my life.

@holos-lotus, hoy regreso para hbalarles sobre ese libro que marcó y continúa marcando un antes y después en mi vida:
La edad de oro, de José Martí.
La edad de oro llegó a mis manos desde muy pequeña solo tenía 6 años y comenzaba a leer y escribir.
Una de las grandezas que tiene este libro, es que parece estar escrito por alguien de nuestro tiempo; alguien que nos conoce a todos. Pero eso lo digo yo ahora que he crecido, sin embargo cuando niña veía el libro de forma diferente.
Y creo que eso es otra de las grandezas que tiene este hermoso libro: sus múltiples niveles de lecturas.
Si lo lees de niña lo ves como una aventuras, un libro de historia, un libro de poesía, un libro que lo tiene todo.
Aquí Martí te habla de personas y personajes interesantes, de héroes, heroínas y de niñas como tú y yo, que cometen los mismos errores y las mismas travesuras que cometíamos cuando pequeños. Era imposible no sentirme identificada con el libro.
Quizás lo principal que veía en él era que era entretenido en el mayor significado de la palabra. Como mismo te encontrabas historias como Meñique, donde el enanito con batidas gigantes a través de su astucia a través de elementos mágicos y fantasiosos; del mismo modo encontrábamos capítulos interesantísimos como La historia del hombre contada por sus casas donde Martí nos llevaba de la mano de la historia a través de las primeras viviendas utilizadas en gran parte del mundo. De esa manera conocí lo que era un iglú, una choza. Aprendí como habitaban los hombres primitivos, quiénes eran los esquimales, los hermanos, galos, aztecas, quechuas. A través de Martí aprendí que el mundo era mucho más grande que mi casa.
A través de la edad de oro aprendí al mismo tiempo que me divertía.
En la Edad de oro leí por primera vez aquella máxima de que Un niño bueno, inteligente y aseado, será siempre un niño hermoso.
José Martí me mostró cómo ser una mejor persona. Me ilustró el final de los malos sentimientos. La edad de oro se volvió una especie de guía para la vida desde mis primeros años.
También me enseñó que todos los días debo aprender algo nuevo.
Con este libro no solo aprendí cosas nuevas, mundos nuevos, sino que se me abrió el apetito por el conocimiento. Siempre quería saber más. Quería aprender de todo y todos. Hoy por hoy vuelvo a él y me doy cuenta de la grandeza y adelantado en su tiempo de este libro.
No es un libro que haya leído una sola, ni dos ni diez veces; sino que regreso a él todos los años. Regreso a * La edad de oro* y regreso a Martí en cada aspecto de mi vida.
Este fue uno de los primeros libros que le puse en las manos a mis hijos. Este es el único título del que tengo quizás una docena de ejemplares de distintas ediciones y nunca son suficientes.
La edad de oro fue la puerta grande a la investigación y lectura de la obra martiana. Y es que el pensamiento martiano ha regido mi ser y hacer desde pequeña.
Incluso ahora en mi doctorado cada capítulo de mi prueba de ciencias sociales, está ilustrado con un pensamiento martiano.
Así que, sin duda alguna, este fue el libro que marcó y sigue marcando mi vida.
