We visited Rufford Abbey Country Park in Nottinghamshire, where there are woodlands, a lake, and gardens to explore. We just had a walk around the lake to feed the birdlife. It was still quite chilly with a bit of snow forecast next week.
On the lake were some nice looking goosanders. This medium sized duck belongs to a group called the 'sawbills.' Their narrow bills have teeth resembling a saw that helps them grip fish.
There was also a lot of greylag geese. One of the geese turned upside down in the water, having a wash. It reminded me of someone in a kayak doing a barrel roll. Their pink legs did look funny, stuck up in the air.
It righted itself in the end!
