I am still taking advantage of the sunny weather as I had a long walk around my village and on the outskirts. I walked down the country lane noticing that the field in the distance that I would eventually walk through was full of cows. I like cows, but I'm a little nervous about walking through them. They looked as though they were at the far end of the field lying in the sun, so I decided to chance it.
Last December, one of my friends gave me a Christmas present, saying, "When you open it, you might think I've lost the plot." Apparently, her husband thought the present was just for children, but she thought adults would like it as well. I did wonder what the hell she'd bought me. At Christmas, I finally found out it was a Butterfly Garden!
For my #wednesdaywalk initiated by @tattoodjay, I did several walks around my local area. This year, we seem to have an abundance of white hawthorn blossoms along the country lanes and parks. They've never looked so good. The white blossoms have a lovely sweet smell. I noticed a few bees and other insects on them searching for the nectar.
We had a nice surprise last week when a pair of Canada geese had six goslings at the village lido. Having lived in the village for many years, this is the first time I’ve known the geese nesting and rearing their young here. Interestingly, the two resident swans have not returned to nest this year, which may be why the geese thought their little brood would be safe for this year. The swans in particular get very territorial.
While the sunny weather continues, we paid a visit to Clumber Park, which is a large area of parkland, heath, and woods and owned and maintained by the National Trust. The ground covers around 3,800 acres and includes a large lake and a gothic church.
As it was quite a warm day, I knew the perfect spot for an early morning walk. I managed to find a parking place at my chosen place at the beginning of the lane in a little village not too far from where I live. As soon as I got out of my car, the familiar pungent smell of wild garlic hit me.
