As anyone can see, I am still wandering the fields of sunflowers. Alas, they are almost finished, although technically they won't be truly over for a few more weeks. The farm will be closing down as the majority have peaked all of their prettiness. People will only pay for the very best, can you blame them?

It was raining sunshine down upon me today, right before the raindrops started. I needed just a few shots of the sunflowers to pair up with this #MarketFriday post. How difficult could that be?Each sunflower has thousands of little flowers - just look1 They are all part of the big plan. The yellow petals that surround the middle are called rays - they kind of remind me of rays of sunshine, don't they? They all sit on top of what they call a head. So each flower is designated as a head. Convenient, isn't it? So easy to remember the parts. This is one of my sunflowers. We planted them by seed and the packet cost $1.99 plus tax. I got dozens of plants for my money. It took 120 days from planting to bloom. It was fun watching the growth. I planted them where they could spread out and take up the room. These are annual plants, so when they die, they will not come back next year. But, they are affordable and I get to start with fresh stock next year! Have you ever tried to plant sunflowers?

Welcome to #MarketFriday! I am in search of a fishing rod for a birthday present. I admit to having six brothers and letting them do 99% of the gathering of the needed equipment. We kept our fishing tackle all together in the garage with one of the boats. The other boat was docked at the marina. My knowledge of how we acquired the gear was third-hand. It was family. That was good enough when you are young. It could possibly work for me on some days, even now. So, with that, I decided to go to Cabela's, which is a large outdoor sports store. Think camping and fishing, maybe even hunting 4 wheeling, or kayaking.

After much delay with rain and cloud cover, the sunflowers have made their debut, adorning the fields with their own brand of glorious sunshine. Look closely at the sunflower, it is actually a flowerhead, made up of many, many flowers. Raise your hand if you knew that fun fact!

The gentlest of breezes carry the seeds of the dandelion across the lawn, far and away from the arms of his mother. It is with childish delight that I watch, holding closely a ritual, the magical wish that is embedded in my soul. Eyes closed tight, I slip a little wish in, sending it on its way - one of the many pleasures of my youth.

Winter was nonexistent and spring refused to move forward, clinging to the cooler temperatures that we endured in March when spring had already started. We have already established that the world had gone quite mad this spring, some hanging tight to their winters while some of us wondered what happened to theirs.
