The Bible describes God as Holy in Isaiah chapter 6, verse 3. In Psalm chapter 7, verse 11. It describes Him as Righteous. Deuteronomy chapter 32, verse 4 describes Him as Just. While
Daniel chapter 4, verses 17, through 25 describes Him as Sovereign.
These attributes tell us the following about God. First, God is capable of preventing evil, and second, God desires to rid the universe of evil. So if both of these are true, why does God allow evil? First, God could change everyone's personality so that they can not sin. This would also mean that we would not have free will. We would not be able to choose right or wrong because we would be programmed to only do right.
Had God chosen to do this, there would be no meaningful relationships between him and his creation. Our decisions to sin have an impact on us and on those around us and on those who will come after us.
We all sin and commit evil acts. Ultimately, all evil causes harm to others. Because Adam chose to sin, the world now lives under the curse, and we are all born with the sin nature. There will come a time when God will judge the sin in this world and make all things new.
But he is purposely delaying in order to allow more time for people to repent, so he will not need to condemn them, we see this in 2 Peter chapter 3, verse 9. Until then, he is concerned about evil. We live in a real world where our good and evil actions have direct consequences and indirect consequences upon us and all those around us. God's design is that for all of our sakes, we would obey him so that it might be well with us.
