Fragility

The seedling stage is a very fragile stage when growing cannabis. It is so easy to mess things up. Over the years, I have messed this part of several times.

When you mess up in the seedling stage, it can affect the entire grow and that is something I learned from the AK47 I just grew. With that grow, I introduced a plant into the tent that had a gnat infestation and it spread to my seedling's pots, which forced me to treat the soil. Treating the soil during the early stages is a bad idea that can cause deformities in the plants and ruin their chance of recovering.

I have also killed a few seedlings by being a bit too overzealous with what I was trying. Seedlings really do not need anything except time. They don't need fans blowing across them because they will just blow over and die. They also do not need any bending of their stem, which I have done before and that didn't end will. I thought I was helping to make a strong stem by bending them, but that would be kind of like forcing a newborn baby to start weight lifting and we all know that won't end well either.

So during this seedling stage, I am just misting the top layer of soil with some water and then leaving it be for the next week or so. I have a 2 liter bottle that I cut to make a little greenhouse for her because seedlings love a humid environment. I have my lights set at 18 hours on and 6 hours off and have their power set to 40%. That should provide enough light to help it grow, while at the same time encouraging some nice stretching. I am going to be watching her closely to make sure she doesn't stretch too much and if she starts, I will lower the lights a big and possible increase their intensity to 50%.

I have learned quite a bit over all of the grows I have under my belt and I am really looking forward to this one. I think this may end up being my best one yet. I can't wait to see how this little seedling is going to grow and spread out to fill about 16 square feet of space. It is going to be pretty cool.
