I promised myself yesterday that I would take a cycle ride today. It was so good to get out there again. I left mid afternoon in the warmth of the sun as we still have cool starts in the morning.
On the outward leg of this ride, I passed by a field of clover and other wild flowers, which had been planted by the farmer after crops last year. This is a large field, and it was a magnificent sight with the reddish and white flowers as far as the eye can see!
Passing through a gap in the hedge to enter a wooded area towards Horsham.
This was the halfway point. Heading into Leechpool wood after briefly negotiating some residential roads of Horsham.
The ground is still very dry in the woods even after the recent rain that we have had.
It was now time to take a tarmac road towards St. Leonards forest. This is a handy private road marked as a public footpath linking up with a bridalway at the far end.
A tight gateway is my entry point into the forest. If you dont know where the gate is, it is easily missed! The main car park and entrance is just a short distance away, but this one is a nice route through, passing along a deep gill.
A nice ride of of about two miles through the forest to a road at the top of the hill. Then a quick descent on the road through Colgate to the next forest track. Then another decent through Holmbush forest to the main road. Here I turned onto thevtrack that cones out into Buchan Park.
The lakeside is where I stopped for the last time before heading home.
But just one more climb! The bridge over the railway. A bit of a struggle with my heavy electric mountain bike but I like to take different routes to keep it interesting. 😁
