Just a few kilometres away from Olive Lake (which I spotlighted over the last couple of posts) is Cobb Lake. There was an actual proper hike to the lake, unlike Olive, where you pretty much parked right at the lake. It took us approximately two hours to hike out here, the reflections were quite impressive here! It seemed like the theme of the day was all about “reflections”. It was generally a fun four hour excursion, weirdly, we were the only ones on the trail that afternoon, and also I forgot the bear spray too.. No other human sightings for four hours. In some ways, I was glad to finish this hike, or maybe relieved is a better word.

These are the last photos taken from our excursion out to tiny Olive Lake. This was the perfect lake to showcase mountain reflections off the water. Perfect! I must say, I really love reflection photography (how about you?). We spent about half an hour here, not much else to do other than take photos and walk along the short shoreline trail. Totally worth the “short stop” though. Definitely a lot of bang for your buck here at Olive Lake, Kootenay National Park, British Columbia, Canada. Au revoir Olive Lake, till next time…

This is one pretty little lake! It is called “Olive Lake”. I suppose if it were up to me, I would have called it “Turquoise Lake” instead. As it looks more turquoise than olive, especially in this light. If overcast weather, I could see why “Olive “ could make more sense. Light exposure typically changes lake colour. The colour is almost an illusion. Sunlight and photography always go very well together. Throw in a reflection or two, and things can get magical. Did you visit any magical lakes last Summer? Good evening, another Sunset brought to you by the great Canadian north. Still haven’t seen much snow yet, but it likely is just around the corner. I’m fine with that. It is more difficult to hike with that snow around, not to mention the colder temperatures and slippery sections. What did you get up to this weekend? Any outdoor adventures? This is tiny Olive Lake, located just minutes away from the famous Radium Hot Springs, inside Kootenay National Park, British Columbia. This was our second stop of the day, in the morning we checked out the Sinclair canyon trail (and Radium lookout), had lunch, then drove here. There was about 10 minutes worth of shoreline trails to explore here. Pretty short, all in all. A pretty little lake to grab a few pics at, but certainly too small for any real hiking. Worth the stop though. Definitely check it out if you ever find yourself in the area!
