UNIVERSAL BASIC INCOME (UBI)
The following is a summary of a number of UBI projects which I am registered with and I receive a referral bonus for anyone who signs up for any of these UBI projects.
CONCEPT:
The concept of Basic Income gives everyone, regardless of work, gender or social class, a guaranteed wage to cover basic living expenses.
The pros for the concept include:
• UBI reduces poverty, income inequality and improves health
• UBI leads to positive job growth and lower school dropouts
• UBI guarantees income for non-working parents and caregivers thus empowering important unpaid roles
The cons include:
• UBI takes money from the poor and gives it to everyone, increasing poverty and depriving the poor of much needed targeted support.
• UBI removes the incentive to work, adversely affecting the economy and leading to a labour and skills shortage.
• UBI is too expensive
IMPLEMENTATION:
The implementation of the UBI is easier than the current welfare programmes, which require proof of work or proof of no income and are able to be withdrawn the moment a person starts to earn any form of salary in the open workplace. UBI is unconditionally given to all citizens regardless of work status, ethnic or gender boundaries or education levels.
BLOCKCHAIN:
Although it is envisaged that UBI will be implemented via regional authorities, the blockchain could potentially give UBI to anyone regardless of where they are situated in the world.
A number of startup projects are already in place which are looking at addressing the UBI situation. Most of these are still in the early start up stage with options to sign up and accumulate tokens before these tokens are launched on the blockchain.
SWIFTDEMAND
Currently anyone who registers with SwiftDemand will be given 100 Swifts per day and these will be transferred into their cryptocurrency as soon this is launched.
There is also a shop on the platform at the moment which allows registered users to purchase items using their UBI allowance.

MANNABASE
Originally launched in 2015 and distributed by the People’s Currency Foundation as a basic human right that every person in the world is eligible to receive, for free.
Manna’s price is set by the free market on online exchanges.
The vision of Mannabase is to empower the people of the world by making the cryptocurrency accessible and available to everyone to reduce poverty and inequality.
The UBI is paid out on a weekly basis and varies based on the number of people subscribed to receive UBI.

BASIC INCOME NETWORK
Looking very similar to Swiftdemand, Basic Income Network gives 100 Basic Income Units to all registered users on a daily basis. Currently there is no shop or value to these units. The anticipated launch of the cryptocurrency is mid 2019 and will place the cryptocurrency at $1 per Basic Income Unit.

UBU
The South African based UBU app gives 100 ubu’s to each registered person on their platform on a daily basis. The UBU platform works on a use it or lose it basis with a decay function allowing a percentage of unused UBUs to be returned to the pool for reissue.

Although the above listing is by no means a comprehensive list of all online projects wanting to give a UBI to the world, the fact that they are all free to join and could potentially help bring down the level of inequality in the world makes it worth anyone’s while to join and interact on the required basis in order to accumulate tokens.
