I recently shared that after scanning my vehicle to check if the immobilizer was malfunctioning, the diagnosis revealed a fault with the crankshaft position sensor, also known as CKP. I hadn't looked into the cause of this error until now because I didn't know its location. Luckily, I have the vehicle's manuals in digital format, and it took me several days to locate it.

Compartir con usted hace poco que tras escaneo del vehículo, para verificar si el inmovilizador estaba fallando, el diagnóstico arrojo falla con el sensor de posición del cigüeñal, conocido también como CKP por sus siglas en ingles. No había chequeado el porque de este error hasta ahora, porque la verdad no conocía su ubicación, por fortuna tengo los manuales del vehículo en digital y me tomo varios días ubicarlo.
It's located at the back of the engine. Personally, I know it's usually located on the transmission housing, but this vehicle has another sensor in a similar position, and I didn't know which of the two it was. Thanks to the manual, I was able to identify the CKP, and the other turned out to be the speed sensor.
Se encuentra en la parte posterior del motor, personalmente se que este está ubicado sobre la carcasa de la caja de cambios, pero este vehículo tiene otro sensor en una posición similar, no sabía cuál de los dos era. Gracias al manual supe cuál es el CKP y el otro resultó ser el de velocidad.

Logically, I assumed it's a digital sensor, and thanks to the manual, I learned that it works using the Hall effect. All the car sensors I've checked so far have three wires, as in most vehicles: one receives 5 volts, another is ground, and the third is the communication line with the computer. Thanks to a toothed wheel, when rotating, the sensor can emit a digital signal of 1 and 0 or 5 and 0 volts.
La lógica me dice que es un sensor digital, y gracias al manual supe trabaja con el efecto Hall. Todos los sensores que he revisado del carro hasta ahora, cuentan con tres cables, como en la mayoría de los vehículos, uno recibe 5 voltios, otro es tierra y el tercero es la comunicación que con el computador. Gracias a una rueda dentada, al girar el sensor puede emitir la señal digital de 1 y 0 ó 5 y 0 voltios.
The best way for me to evaluate this signal and know if the sensor is working correctly is with an oscilloscope. Fortunately, my multimeter has this function. However, before doing this test, it's recommended to simply clean the sensor because, when working with the Hall effect, the sensor fills up with iron shavings that come off over time due to engine wear and remain attached to the sensor due to magnetism, hindering its operation.
La mejor manera para mí de evaluar está señal y saber si el sensor está bueno, es con un osciloscopio, por fortuna mi multímetro posees está funcion, sin embargo, antes de hacer esta prueba, lo recomendable es hacer limpieza nada más, porque al trabajar con el efecto Hall, el sensor se llena de virutas de hierro que se desprenden con el tiempo debido al desgaste del motor, y permanecen adheridas al sensor debido al magnetismo, dificultando así su funcionamiento.
When removing the sensor, you can clearly see the iron shavings, but it's also dirty with oil. This suggests that at some point, I overfilled the engine with oil, exceeding the level to the point that it reached up there. For now, with the help of carburetor cleaner, I removed the dirt and installed it again. I've felt the change, and even the ECU indicator on the dashboard has turned off. I'll be testing it, and I'll share an update with you soon.
Al retirar el sensor se puede notar claramente las virutas de hierro, pero también está sucio por aceite, eso me sugiere que en algún momento le coloque aceite de además, superando el nivel, al punto que llegara tan arriba. Por ahora con la ayuda de limpia carburador, quite la suciedad y lo instale nuevamente. He sentido el cambio, incluso el indicador del tablero de ECU se apagó. Estaré probando y pronto les comparto una actualización.
