I'm currently testing a new approach on my TikTok posts where I blend both video and photo content using some of CapCut’s interesting video editing effects. I’m really enjoying the editing process because the app helps turn my average-looking short clips into something more dynamic and engaging.
If you look at my
TikTok page: City Life Explore, you'll see that I initially started by posting plain short clips with random sounds or music. Honestly, I was doing the bare minimum—just uploading very basic videos. I didn’t expect those average-looking clips to gain any attention. I was simply trying to fill my page with content that
might be interesting to someone.
Looking back, I realize that wasn’t the right mindset. Now I see that the more effort I put into my content, the more views it tends to get.
Adding multiple layers of entertainment—like captions, music, and even voiceovers—has really improved the quality of my posts, and it's reflected in the viewership as well. It’s exciting to see how things evolve as I continue to improve and create more engaging content. The growth is visible in my analytics, and that’s been very motivating.
Of course, good content should begin with an interesting subject—that’s what ultimately draws viewers to my page. To achieve this, I explore beautiful spots around the city and feature them on my TikTok page.
Last Sunday, I visited Jurong Lake Gardens in search of a compelling subject to showcase.
The most iconic landmark in the Chinese Garden is the Cloud Pagoda, so I decided to start with that.
I captured a short video clip with a panning motion that starts at the base of the pagoda and gently tilts upward to reveal its upper levels. I also took several photos of the pagoda, which I plan to stitch together with the video clip to create a more dynamic visual experience.
The final result turned out to be much more engaging than a typical short video.
Here are the YouTube Shorts and TikTok versions—hope you enjoy them!
Creating engaging content takes time and effort, but the results are always rewarding. By combining thoughtful visuals, creative editing, and interesting subjects, I'm learning how to connect better with my audience. I’m excited to keep exploring, improving, and sharing more stories through my videos.
