It's an exciting time in the world of Splinterlands! The SPS Validator network has just launched, marking a huge step forward on the path to decentralizing the game. You can think of this network as a type of Hive-based sidechain for Splinterlands transactions, in much the same way that Hive Engine runs a sidechain to add smart contract capabilities to Hive. The nodes on this network are called validators, and initially they are being used to validate SPS related transactions. Eventually, you can imagine the validators being expanded to cover all sorts of other game transactions as well, until we someday reach the Holy Grail of complete decentralization for Splinterlands game services.

Greetings from the Splinterlands! During the recent maintenance we did to improve game performance, we took the opportunity to release a whole batch of small fixes & some adjustments in response to player feedback on Brawls 2.0. Here's a short summary of the changes:

All across Praetoria, people can't stop talking about the Gladiators, a group of elite warriors who have answered the call for participants to join the great Guild Brawls! The Gladiators are drawn from all races & creeds, a diverse group gathered from scattered locations throughout the Splinterlands. Now their training is nearing completion, and soon Battle Mages will be able to draw on their services to achieve much glory in the Brawls to come!

To attract Gladiators and increase the effectiveness of their Battle Mages, the top Guilds of Praetoria have invested in the construction of sprawling Barracks compounds. These training facilities specialize in sophisticated Tactics for Brawling. Even a slight advantage in combat can often mean the difference between ignoble defeat or glorious victory!

Excitement is building as the Gladiators train for their first Arena battles throughout the great Guilds of Praetoria! Battle Mages are providing good business for the newly opened Guild Stores, equipping themselves with various magical artifacts to give their guilds an edge over rivals. There's plenty of inventory, so get down to your local Guild Store and satisfy that shopping itch today!
