One holiday that i witness #266

By @cindynancy12/3/2025hive-124452

Good day, amazing people of the Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #ladiesofhive community. Many holidays are celebrated this time of year: Hannukah in the Jewish tradition, Yule/Solstice in Neo-Pagan and ancient traditions, Christmas in Christian households, Bodhi Day in some Buddhist traditions... Have you ever celebrated with others in a tradition that is NOT your own? If so, tell us about it. If not, would you consider it, and which holiday would you choose as your first such experience?

Holiday is always a period people long for because it helps to bond and bring family together. I don’t think there is anyone that longs for holidays the way I do. The fact that I will be at home resting, with no work, hanging out with friends, and having quality time with my loved ones gives me joy.

As Christmas is around the corner, there are other people that are also longing to celebrate. I will be honest: I have not thought of celebrating a holiday that is not mine. It has not crossed my mind to join other people in celebrating their holiday. I have some friends who don’t celebrate Christmas like me, and when they are doing their own, I don’t join them in celebrating it; I see it as a period of rest. It has not come to my mind that I should join them to celebrate their holiday. After coming across this post, I am open and longing to celebrate a holiday that is not mine.

I am someone that enjoys learning new things and exploring things. I have heard a lot about the Jewish tradition, and I always tell myself that I would like to see how they celebrate their holiday if I am given the opportunity. I have heard a lot about their tradition; witnessing it will not be bad. Looking at the way things are now, distance is really coming to be a barrier, so I would like to celebrate Sallah since it is done in my country.

The tradition I am looking forward to celebrating is Sallah. I am not a Muslim, but seeing this post, I told myself that I will celebrate Sallah. I have been hearing stories from friends of how they eat too much meat and also go home with meat. They always tell me it is fun because there is a lot to eat and drink. I have not really been around when they are celebrating Sallah; either my company posts me on an assignment that will take me out of town or that will keep me busy. It is like a law that when they are celebrating Sallah, they will share meat with everyone living in the compound, and you can’t reject it.

I will only join in the enjoyment because my second name is 'enjoyment queen'. I will not join them for prayers because everything will be strange to me. I will wait for them patiently to come home after prayers for the celebration.

If I have the opportunity to celebrate a holiday that is not mine, I will gladly do that, so I will love to enjoy and know about their tradition.

This is my entry on the ongoing content #ladiesofhive.
