Day Two it is!

On Day 2 of our immersion, February 3, we followed the same cycle, same routine, and did almost the same tasks. Nothing much happened on this day. My back still hurt, but I still enjoyed doing my work. The agenda for today was to continue doing the OS. In the afternoon, we tried to start making cotton balls, did some cleaning, and had a little rest. It was just like Day 1, but with an added task, which was making cotton balls.

When I arrived at the venue early in the morning, my partner was already waiting for me. I still had a few things to do at home, but thankfully, I was not late. We then went inside and greeted the people in charge at the Birthing Center. After that, we put our bags in the room and started cleaning the area.

Later on, we asked one of the midwives where the OS that we started yesterday was placed. She told us where to find them, and we continued our work. She even helped us and had a little chitchat with us. We laughed together, and she was really nice to bond with. We were even included in her vlog because she is a vlogger. She calls her viewers her “angels,” and now me and Lorene are part of them. We bonded and talked about different things while working, which made the time pass faster and the work feel lighter.

Time went by so fast that it was already noon, and it was time for lunch. We waited for our classmates to come out from their respective venues and ate lunch together. We talked about what we did during our immersion, laughed, and enjoyed our meal to satisfy our empty stomachs. After eating, we went back to our station and continued working in our assigned areas.

In the afternoon, since we had already finished wrapping the OS in the morning, Ma’am Honey got a roll of cotton and taught us how to make cotton balls. It was easier than I expected, but it was time-consuming, and my back started to hurt even more. When Ma’am Honey had to go out for work, me and Lorene were left in the room to continue what we were doing. The room felt quiet and serious, but when we got tired, we took a short rest.

Before we knew it, it was already 5 in the afternoon, and it was time to go home. Unfortunately, we were not able to finish making the cotton balls, so we will continue the task on Day 3. Before leaving, we informed Ma’am Dahlia that we were going home to get some proper rest.

On Day 2, I realized that working in the field is not easy, but when you are with your coworkers or friends, everything feels lighter and easier, and the work gets done faster. Patience is very important, especially in the medical field, and tasks must always be done properly. All in all, Day 2 was exhausting but fun, especially because of the people we bonded with.
