New year New pattern.

In the journey for success, often time's we encounter hindrance that try to truncate our path in other to make things difficult and unbearable for us, but at some certain stages we rely on different things to get us to our final destination and it can either be Motivation or Discipline, depending on what suites us best. Discipline is an invisible force that transform our vision into reality, converts our effort into mastery, making sure our consistency yield success. If you check, for every great achievement attained, discipline has served as the backbone.

The path of discipline is not an easy one for somebody with little or no conviction and resolution to take because it requires sacrifice, where we sacrifice our comfort for growth, our entertainment for education and knowledge as well as our short term pleasures for long term fulfilment, because these sacrifices are not losses but rather investment into our future. One of the reason why I will always choose discipline over motivation is because intelligence, talent and opportunity may give us a head start in whatever we are doing, but without discipline, all these gifts often go wasted.

Take desire for example, it is natural and in itself, it is neither good nor bad, however unchecked desires often leads to laziness, indulgence or greed. When discipline is involve, that desires are transformed into drive, which is the energy that fuels consistent work and determination. Even happiness and joy which are emotions that we let take control of us needs discipline if not we will indulge ourselves in too much pleasures and comfort thereby neglecting our long term goals.

Furthermore, I believe that discipline is not just about suppressing our emotions or denying ourselves, but rather it helps us align our emotions with purpose. For instance, Anger, when disciplined can become the fire that drives one to overcome obstacles, Passion becomes a tool for productivity when we combine it with discipline and even sadness itself, when disciplined can deepens empathy and help individuals to connect with others meaningfully. Looking at this, one can be able to deduce that discipline does not eliminate human emotions completely but rather integrates them into the pursuit of success, ensuring that no emotions goes to waste.

History has consistently proven that success belongs not necessarily to the strongest or the most gifted, but rather to the most disciplined, and even the greatest athletes, scholars, entrepreneurs and leaders are all united by one particular principle which is the mastery of discipline. Let us not forget that discipline is not limited to professional or academics pursuit alone, it extends to every part of life for example, relationship thrive when people are disciplined enough to listen, communicate and remain faithful, our health improves when discipline governs our diet, exercise and rest, our finances grow when discipline controls spending and promoted saving and even our spiritual life requires discipline of the mind, thoughts and our daily practice.

Alot of people often search for shortcuts to success, hoping to find an easier way, but shortcuts often times leads to failure and mediocrity. The truth remains that discipline is the sure path because every great achievement, from scientific discoveries to artistic masterpiece was born of disciplined efforts. The greatest leaders in history whether in politics, religion or innovations did not rise to their position by luck alone but through years of disciplined learning , practice and sacrifice.
