Greetings to everyone in the Worldmappin community! Today I join today to share with you a new tourist review about Carabobo, in this special project of Tourism in Carabobo. We are located in the municipality of Naguanagua, which enjoys a cool climate, a lot of serenity and a certain stately air. It is also the place where I lived for many years, my childhood and adolescence. I have a special affection for it. Every time I travel to Naguanagua I become a little girl again. I wanted to show you many things, but I think that among all of them, there is something that stands out in Naguanagua and that is its great catholic devotion. So I could not introduce myself in this municipality in any other way than through the Parish Temple of Our Lady of Begoña Naguanagua and the Plaza Bolivar of Naguanagua. Join me on this tour.
¡Saludos a todos en la comunidad de Worldmappin! El día de hoy me uno por aquí para compartir con ustedes una nueva reseña turistica sobre Carabobo, en este proyecto especial de Turismo en Carabobo. Nos ubicamos en el municipio Naguanagua, el cual goza de un clima fresco, mucha serenidad y cierto aire señorial. También es el lugar dónde viví por muchos años, mi infancia y adolescencia. Le guardo especial cariño. Cada que viajo a Naguanagua me vuelvo chiquita de nuevo. Yo deseaba mostrarles a ustedes muchas cosas, pero creo que dentro de todas ellas, hay algo que destaca en Naguanagua y es su gran devoción católica. Así que no podía introducirme en este municipio de otra forma que no fuera a través del Templo Parroquial Nuestra Señora de Begoña Naguanagua y la Plaza Bolívar de Naguanagua. As I have commented on previous occasions, a place is known for its squares and here in Naguanagua is no exception. In the historic center of Naguanagua is the Plaza Bolivar, which welcomes you with its beautiful and lush trees, concrete walkways, its iron benches and that atmosphere of unparalleled peace. We will find a statue of Simon Bolivar that unlike other statues found in the Bolivar Plazas of the country, this one does not ride a horse or stand erect showing to be ready for combat, instead, rests quietly on a railing, wearing civilian clothes and carrying in his right hand what appears to be a parchment. Which makes sense since under the statue are some of the liberator's words about civility and heroism. It is a more "mundane" version of Simon Bolivar.
Cómo he comentado en anteriores oportunidades, se conoce un lugar por sus plazas y aquí en Naguanagua no es la excepción. En el casco histórico de Naguanagua se encuentra la Plaza Bolívar, la cual te recibe con sus bellos y frondosos árboles, caminerias de concreto, sus banquitos de hierro y esa atmósfera de paz inigualable. Encontraremos una estatua de Simón Bolívar que a diferencia de otras estatuas encontradas en las Plazas Bolívar del país, este no monta a caballo o se levanta erguido mostrando estar listo para el combate, en cambio, reposa tranquilamente sobre una baranda, viste ropa de civil y carga en su mano derecha lo que parece ser un pergamino. Lo que tiene sentido pues bajo la estatua se encuentran unas palabras del libertador acerca del civismo y el heroísmo. Es una versión más "mundana" de Simón Bolívar.
When we cross the square we will find the old Chapel (colonial era) and the Parish Temple of Our Lady of Begoña (Republican era). As I mentioned above, the squares and their buildings tell us the history of a place because in 1782, Bernardino López and Dionisio Matute (with intentions of having a space for their devotion), requested the creation of a parish to the bishop, Mariano Martí (in Caracas), who granted permission and began the construction of the Chapel in 1783, appointing the presbyter Vicente Idelfeso Seijas, pastor of the same. In 1788, the construction of the Chapel was completed and served until 1936. In 1943, the priest Luis Antonio Rotondaro, requested the creation of a new temple and the project was approved and concluded in 1955. The chapel was not demolished because of its significance. And this building was named National Historic Monument (in 1960), because thanks to it (and some other factors) Naguanagua became a remarkable landmark, gaining over time recognition and its identity as a municipality.
Cuando atravesamos la plaza encontraremos la antigua Capilla (época colonial) y el Templo Parroquial Nuestra Señora de Begoña (época republicana). Cómo comenté arriba, las plazas y sus edificios nos cuentan la historia de un lugar pues precisamente gracias a que en 1782, Bernardino López y Dionisio Matute (con intenciones de tener un espacio para su devoción), solicitan la creación de una parroquia al obispo, Mariano Martí (en Caracas), quién otorga el permiso y se inicia la construcción de la Capilla en el año 1783, nombrando al presbítero Vicente Idelfeso Seijas, párroco de la misma. En 1788 se concluyó la construcción de la Capilla que sirvió hasta el año 1936. En 1943, el sacerdote Luis Antonio Rotondaro, solicita la creación de un nuevo templo y se le es aprobado el proyecto que fue concluido en el año 1955. La capilla no fue demolida por su significado. Y este edificio fue nombrado Monumento Histórico Nacional (en 1960), pues gracias a ella (y algunos otros factores) Naguanagua se convirtió en un punto de referencia destacable, obteniendo con el tiempo reconocimiento y su identidad cómo municipio.
It is really surprising to find so much history in such a small place and imagine how events have happened over time. Currently the church is the official site for the devotion of Our Lady of Begoña, so it is annually visited by many. It has been restored several times, so it is kept in very good condition. I see it and feel great admiration and nostalgia because there many of my loved ones celebrated masses, meetings, weddings, communions and so on. The church remains unchanged, although the same people no longer pass through it. Finally my friends, we have concluded for today. Realmente es sorprendete encontrar tanta historia en un lugar tan pequeño e imaginar cómo han sucedido los hechos a través del tiempo. Actualmente la iglesia es sede oficial para la devoción de Nuestra Señora de Begoña, por lo cual es anualmente visitada por muchos. Ha sido restaurada en varias ocasiones, por lo que se mantiene en muy buen estado. La veo y siento gran admiración y nostalgia pues allí muchos de mis seres queridos celebraron misas, reuniones, bodas, comuniones y demás. La iglesia sigue inalterada, aunque ya no transite la misma gente. Finalmente amigos míos, hemos concluido por el día de hoy. Muchísimas gracias por pasar por aquí, leer mí publicación y comentar.
