1. INTRODUCTION

Codex Branding Image.jpg

As you explore the continent of Artemesia in Lost Eidolons, you unlock various codex entries in your encyclopedia. Many players have asked for a consolidated list of codex entries so this is an attempt to help provide a requested resource for the community.

Most codex entries are added at the start of a chapter based on the narrative events that most recently happened. Codices are organized into three categories. People and locations are fairly obvious. The third category is a catch-all bucket that I would characterize as "history." Although it includes houses, concepts, and unique items, the codex entries tend to focus on the history of such things.

When a new visitor joins the camp, their codex entry becomes unlocked only when you have recruited that character into your army. So if you don't immediately recruit a new visitor you will have to wait to unlock their codex entry. Also, there are a few cases where a character you previously met and already have a codex entry for becomes available for recruitment.

The location codices are likely to cause the most confusion to new players. It seems like it is only possible to unlock 9 of the 42 entries here. When you first start the game, as each chapter introduces new locations, new location codices are unlocked. But that stops at Chapter 8, after which no new location codices are unlocked even though you explore many new locations in Artemesia. I strongly suspect there was some development team issue - they originally planned to flesh out the rest of the codex entries but due to cost overruns, deadlines, and/or prioritization, either the remaining location codex entries were never written or were never implemented.

Last of all, I want to point out that some of the codex entries become unlocked only after you reach certain rapport levels with specific characters. Since you don't have enough time, leadership, and gifts to max out your relationships with all of the characters in a single playthrough, that means you might not be able to unlock certain codex entries on your first run.
