It feels like it has taken spring forever to arrive here, but it seems that it is finally making itself known! We can tell that spring is approaching, not only from the significantly warmer temperatures, but also from the weather... Colors slowly seeping back into the world... Birds chirping in the treetops... After a long (but mild!) winter, it feels so good to appreciate the change in season.
One of the first things we noticed about spring's arrival is that it began to rain instead of snow! This was great news for us, for the increase in precipitation means that our bodies of water have grown--especially waterfalls! Sometimes after a very good storm, you can watch the water came rushing out!
So we recently decided to go for a hike the day after the storm, and we were not disappointed. In total, there are about 4 waterfalls that you can encounter on the Chedoke trials. Most of them are fairly small, but there is a giant towering one if you continue down the path far enough. Here are a few of the shots we managed to capture. Note the lovely hues of green as well, a welcoming sight to see!
Unfortunately we also came upon this sight while venturing off the path... It is not an uncommon sight to encounter every now and again, but it breaks my heart each time it should happen... After all, many people walk their dogs on these trials, and I would not be surprised if Chedoke Falls happened to be some of those dogs' favorite place! I like to remind myself that this animal impacted someone's life so heavily that they went through the trouble of making them their own grave. That takes a lot of care and love...
