There is maybe someone who remembers my post from 2019 about our
Culture House burning down. Well if you do congrats on your memory, because google does not remember (could not find the article), most people in my town would probably forget that we had one, if it was not one of the biggest buildings in the town.
I had a different idea for the start of the post but then i scrolled back to 2019 to find the old one (because blockchain remembers) and the first sentence in that post was:
was this the last nail for part of the culture in our little town?
In one of the paragraphs i wrote:
Last two years it was closed because they started renovating it, but as all things go in our country they did a shitty job. They got some funds and decided to renovate all at once but started from the facades. It was nice from the outside.
Well if you thought there is a happy ending in this post, there is not, at least for the building, for the culture in the place, well there is some hope, small but...
So after 6 years, shit ton of money spent, brand new leaking roof patch job, a lot of promises, they again started from the outside, and i am not sure i can say that it even looks nice from the outside.
People are generally pissed in my country at the moment (that is probably for another post), so artists in the town decided to at lest be heard. The Grand opening was organized.
You can't go into the construction site, something could happen as it is not safe, so everything was organized around the building.
Probably my favorite in the exhibition. Great play on words for people who speak Serbian and Slovak.
Near by towns decided to show support and walk here, so a greeting was a must. I must say there was some resentment in the past because they hoarded all the water 200 years ago, but we forgive them :D
I heard police bough Fiat 500, but i never seen it live. Had to take a picture, it looks ridiculous.
Grand opening didn't happen, unfortunately.
Program was opened with some facts about the renovation and continued with some traditional Slovak songs, a speech from director and actor Fedor Popov, than a short part of a play that is in works for years but never got a premier because of lack of, well theatre. There was also a short part of a play from elementary school.
Backstage...
I am sure every guitar player will have some feelings about this. I know the owner had. Things you do for art :D
Program ended with 2 bands from Padina.
Here they tried to kill the culture, well i have to say we were the lucky ones.
