Red Solace

By @barrym84/8/2018poetry

Take heart, for ours is a pain of first love triumph,
We need not fear the dusk of a windswept day.
The bright night carries with it a skin-soothed breeze.
Closely followed by the solace of the sun’s first rays.

Take heart, for the tea leaves lie in the red dust now.
They’re shape need not be ascertained.
They bleed out into the earth’s embrace,
And trace a future, against an immovable frame.

Take heart, for our winged and soaring journeys,
need not catch an opposite wind.
The loaded dice of fate are funny, and the
latticed sky has a sense of humour.

Take heart, for what was had was cast in soil,
It cannot be undermined.
It holds the roots of our very nature,
And nurtures the seed of future growth.

Take heart, for tomorrow’s yield is only more,
The pain need not mark harm nor loss.
Calm the bluster of unmet thoughts, do not rebuild your walls from fear, let the ebb of gentle memories, prepare you to love again.
