Unit #6: Destroyer - finished

Hello everyone!

Due to my exam period I had not that much time lately and will not have for another two to three weeks. Last week I finished my last unit for the painting contest. I am very curious if I manage to win one of the prices - but I won't know that for the next couple of days. Voting is still in progress on facebook as well as at the GW store. Anyway here is the full group:

I hope you like them :) I really fell in love with the green eyed one, so I keep him for my showcase. The other four will serve a good time in my boyfriend' Sons of Horus army along with the single Destroyer I painted months ago.

Fun Fact: Somehow I got the song "Destroyer" by "Static X" stuck in my head... Definitively the Destroyer Marine's fault!

Crazy Painting Challenge (CPC) - a few words

I really enjoyed this painting contest as it had a low entry fee and I had the freedom to choice whatever miniature(s) I like as long as they are one unit. Sometimes I got really busy and had a hard time to finish my miniatures in time as two weeks can be quite short, so I am really proud that I finished five out of six units. And one big positive effect: I guess without the challenge I would not have finished Mad Donna Ulanti or Sly Marbo that early. Probably the would lay around for half a year minimum and get really dusty... (And I would not own a Banshee.) Did the challenge have negative sides? Well not completely negative, but there is one thing I really struggled with: Time and the fact that it had to be complete units, maximum primed. Most of my unfinished units have a least one part or miniature that is already (half-)painted. I hate to do things twice, so I did not want to prime them again. And I am a desperately slow painter. I knew that I would not be able to finish most bigger single miniatures (e.g. hive tyrant) or units (e.g. five zoanthropes) at a level I like during two weeks. So choosing miniatures was kinda difficult sometimes.

So as I mentioned voting is currently in progress. Visitors of the Games Workshop Store Augsburg can leave their vote directly. As I mentioned there is a facebook voting too. The GW Store posted three photos of each participants units. A "Like" on this photos counts as a vote for the participant.

If you want to support me on facebook feel free to leave a like. But just to be clear: There is no need to do so. I'm perfectly happy with an upvote on this post as this means much more to me than a facebook like.

Anyway here are the links to the photos of the contest:

Greetings
~ Tami
