Today, I'm drive my car to my aunty house in Tanjung Pura, a two hour drive and I plan to offer some assistance. It's not a pleasant travel experience, I usually come here to fish downstream, as this area borders the Strait of Malacca.
The flooding reach my aunt's house, provide them with ready to eat food to survive for the next three day until their house can stay. The combination of a cyclone and human negligence have caused flooding in three provinces: North Sumatra, Aceh, and West Sumatra.
Human negligence? Isn't it the cyclone's fault?

If you really need information about flooding, click this link
Cyclones do occur within the Strait of Malacca. In fact, not just the northern part of Sumatra, but also another country, Malaysia and Thailand, Sri Lanka. More than 200 deaths due to flooding caused by the cyclone in Sri Lank and more than 100 people in Thailand. And,, do you know how many deaths there been on the Indonesian island of Sumatra? It's already reached 560 peoples, its so scary. And even more, because there are several area where there is still no news or information due to the severance of access to areas.
There are more than 600 people still missing... can you imagine the human toll from the floods? Floods can take so many lives? Doesn't that mean something happen? Yupss landslides have occurred in various areas, and what's worse, tropical forest timber is now lying on the shore. Deforestation and illegal logging in Indonesia's tropical forests, specific the Batang Toru forest, are now dwindling.
It's not just the heavy rainfall that can hit homes along the riverbanks, but the timber from the logging itself is already a serious concern. Until finally, God provided a way for the timber to fall on its own. The timber, seemingly ready for sale, now shows the world that it is being harmed, stripped, and coerced by humans for their own profit.

The loss is not only the loss of the forest as a protector of humanity, but also immeasurable material losses. These irresponsible people have destroyed the hopes of the poor, leaving them homeless.
Houses that were submerged four days ago, the floods have not even receded, and the frightening threat of starvation due to roads being cut off by landslides and damaged by landslides, which are currently slowing the distribution of basic necessities. Not only humans, but even animals have lost their homes.

Is this what is called ecological damage caused by greedy humans? Of course, it is undenial because the evidence is so compelling. You can zoom in on parts of the Batang Toru tropical forest with Google Earth. The situation is so heartbreaking, and your innermost being immediately asks, is the earth still fit for human life?
Until now, I can only feel the cruel suffering caused by a corrupt government and its ineptitude in handling the disaster. Currently, it has not been declared a national disaster. What we found were only words uttered from the mouths of officials without empathy and conscience, interspersed with stupidities that they ultimately threw back in their own faces.
See you the next time hive friends!

Hi! Let me introduce myself, its me Wita.
I'm just a woman who wants to write whatever's on my mind. I really enjoy cooking, occasionally traveling, and doing whatever I like. I want to live like a bird flying freely in nature. But I know I'm only human. So, I can only write freely like a bird that can fly with its two wings.
I'm usually very interested in new things. Let me be creative with at least these writings. I welcome any suggestions, as long as you mention them politely in the comments section. We can have a free discussion every now and then.
Don't think too much of me as you see in my posts. I'm just sharing what I have, and some of it is actually quite enjoyable to post. It's just that I don't really like posting bad things. I hope we continue to work together to build this Hive community.
