My first real flight in over a year and I couldn’t have asked for a better landscape. Gairloch, Scotland was my location and had I took my 3rd party drone apps advice seriously, I’d have left my drone at home and never captured any of this amazing scenery. According to my app (which has now been deleted), Gairloch is surrounded for miles by a gigantic geofence. “Restricted area” is what the app told me and I very nearly left my drone at home. I assumed it must be some kind of RAF training ground as I’ve been told that pilots use the Scottish highlands to sharpen their skills. Fortunately the app showed just a few unrestricted zones close by to where we were staying, which was just enough temptation to bring along my little Mavic. Thank god I did!

“Work hard, play hard”. That’s the theme of this weekend. Saturday shift at work, a mahoooosive walk with the huskies to a beautiful place, named Braddock Park, and another portion of decorating completed at the new house. Pheweee! It’s been a busy weekend. So, what better reward than a trip to my very local micropub, The Birdhide.

I’m thankful for the world in which I live and I understand that not all enjoy the same world as I do. I pray for a better time where our differences no longer arouse suspicion, instead they peak interest and acceptance. I pray we understand ourselves as human beings and come to realise our potential for creation, for that is our virtue. I look around me and I’m thankful for what we have created, for what we have cultivated, and for what we have imagined into life. The new world is truly beautiful. I take time to thank myself for the labour I endure in order to provide myself and those who rely upon me the luxury I presently enjoy. Soon I will return to work and while I may not enjoy this I must remember why.

After slumming it down Lidl’s beer aisle for the past few weeks, I thought I’d treat myself to a pair of frosty legends. Trappist RochefortOf all the Trappist beers I’ve tried, Rochefort are the finest. It’s one of the few beers that I could identify in a blind taste test. A truly unmistakable beer.

They say money can’t buy you happiness but this weekend my teenage daughter, who has no driving license, sat behind the wheel of a Lamborghini and raced it around a track as fast as she dared. Granted, it’s inevitable she will return to her moody teenage alter ego, but for now she’s all smiles.

This #beersaturday I am enjoying a weekend fishing with my dad and my best friend. The setting is idyllic, the sun is shining, and the mood is peaceful, and stress free. Most important of all, the beers are ice cold and plentiful 😎
