This is an element of a drawing from earlier this year, where I attempted to tell the same story as the one I've put down in words below. It's something that impacted me, and will stay with me forever, so happy to share with you. Full drawing below.
Short Story InspirationThis story was inspired by a work of art I found in the Kunsthal in Rotterdam. To read more about it, check my earlier post, which is also an invitation to join me in this short story contest and win 10 Hive.
SalomeWhen we visited the Kunsthal in Rotterdam, I was impressed with an exposition of tapestries they were showing. And wanted to use some of them as inspiration for writing exercises or a short story. There was one colourful and very imaginative piece called 'Salomé danse pour Hérode', representing the New Testament story of Salome dancing in front of king Herod, based on a painting by the French Marcel-Béronneau.
TapestriesYesterday afternoon, my husband and I visited the Kunsthal in Rotterdam, Netherlands. If you ever visit the city and want to check out a museum, make it this one. They always have a wide variety of suprising artwork, things you just don't expect, and one of the expositions we saw really spoke to my imagination.
CharactersIn the past few weeks, I've been reading up on writing tips. And of course, the quality of our stories largely depends on the quality of the characters our stories are about. Whether the challenges they face pull us readers into the story or not. Whether we can relate to them. How we see them change and grow as the story proceeds.
