Larry Is Alive January 27, 2024: I Am Alive Challenge

Hello everyone and warm welcome to my Larry hunt for saturday the 27th day of January, 2024. Happy weekend everyone. Xavi is set to depart FC Barcelona as their head coach at the end of the season! That's the biggest news of the day in the world of football.

On a brighter note, motherland Nigeria breezed past Cameroon last night in the second match of the day in the AFCON. Th Super Eagles of Nigeria won (2-0) on a night most people had expected them to turn up for the party. I was carried away by the celebration 🥳🎉, hence my late publishing of the Larry hunt for the day. You made us proud last night, the Super Eagles. Once again, congratulations!!!

Angola had earlier crushed Namibia (3-0) to advance to the next round. Both teams had to end the game with ten men apiece with the Angolan goalkeeper getting his matching orders as early as the 17th minute of the game while Namibian player got his second yellow 🟡 card of the game in the 40th minute.

Angola will now face Nigeria's Super Eagles in the next round in Abidjan on Friday (17:00 GMT).

Larry then veers off to have a look at today in #history.

Larry begins his look at today in history from Vietnam. He finds out on this day in 1973, the Paris Accord, which ended America's longest war at the time, was signed, allowing for the exchange of prisoners and the unilateral withdrawal of US forces from South Vietnam.

From Vietnam, Larry goes to Sweden. He finds out that on this day in 2018, Ingvar Kamprad, the Swedish entrepreneur who founded IKEA, the world's largest furniture retailer in the early twenty-first century, died at the age of 91 in Småland.

From Sweden, Larry goes to Yemen. He finds out that on this day in 2011, the Yemen Uprising began when hundreds of protestors gathered in Sanaa, Yemen, inspired by Tunisian and Egyptian rallies, to demand Ali Abdullah Saleh's resignation and political and economic reform.

From Yemen, Larry goes to Niger. He finds out that on this day in 1996, Colonel Ibrahim Baré Maïnassara successfully led a military coup in Niger against the democratically elected government of President Mahamane Ousmane.

From Niger, Larry goes to world of astronauts and cosmonauts. He finds out that on this day in 1967, Virgil I. Grissom, Edward H. White, and Roger B. Chaffee died in a fire aboard Apollo 1 while conducting a launch simulation.

Finally, Larry rounds off his look at today in #history from Poland. He finds out that on this day in 1945, Soviet troops liberated the Nazi concentration camp at Auschwitz in Poland.

Having seen all these pieces of historical events, Larry zooms off to begin his daily deliveries.
